The Bermuda Triangle...

The third volume of the Cryptid Hunter series takes on the Bermuda Triangle with an explanation consciously influenced by Michael Crichton's novel, Sphere. While I think this was the weakest of the three books this far, I was impressed by what Gualtieri attempted to accomplish. It's undeniable that he has been laying the groundwork of this tale in the first two books, and to the extent that it succeeds, it does so because Gaultieri created such interesting characters in the first two.

And I did really like the novel. It has a lot of tension emanating from two massive external threats complicated by the human dimension he showed us so well in the earlier books. He also plays with some classic tropes of science fiction. He also continues to be willing to kill off his cast--something we can both love and hate about him.

It will be interesting to see how he handles some of the loose ends he dangles in front of the reader at the end of the novel.

Series killed way too soon

Another great story, but it does require more of a suspension of disbelief than the previous 2 books in the series. While having no characters in the stories that are untouchable adds to the suspense, it makes it hard to allow yourself to get attached or root for any one character. That aside, I found myself really enjoying the book. The narration was again a strong point. The way this book ends leaves you wondering if the series is finished, or if there is more to come. My hope is that the series continues.

Great fusion of stories

Nice addition to the series. Monster attack scenes are as thrilling as ever. Definitely worth the read if you enjoyed the previous

Enjoyed but..

I enjoyed it but gosh it’s just got really far fetched from the other books. It could’ve been better if it hadn’t of turned into such a twilight zone episode. I could easily listen to the first two books again and enjoy them just the same, but not this one.

Spoilers next….
All the kraken did in this book was attack ships while the story became more about the alien ship hidden in the sea. Most of it is them in the alien ship dealing with some of their doubles while the kraken attacks their friends above. The end leaves us open for more but dang definitely have to be a straight twilight episode then.

Another great read!

Rick has never failed to tell a great story. So many twists and turns kept me on the edge for the whole book. I’m hoping there will be more!

Good story telling

I really like this series with the mystic tales and creatures, plus kick ass hunters. I would like to see this series continue and with the same narrator.

An excellent addition to the series

this story was significantly more complex than the previous stories with many moving parts. A great addition to the series and leaves many possible story lines going firward.
