About this listen

The saga of the MacCulloughs continues....

Lachlan MacCullough doesn’t want to be a laird. He never did. But when his cousin, Black Richard, asks him to rule the recently conquered holdings of Randall Chisolm until Black Richard’s first born is old enough to do so, he cannot deny the request. Even though it will take him away from the one woman he wants...Keevah.

Keevah cannot escape her past. Known as the auld whore, not even her friendship with Black Richard’s wife, Aeschene, will spare her the rumors and slurs that have haunted her for years. But there are worse things than being shunned.

When Keevah receives word that an old and dear friend is dying, she must return to Inverness to make her goodbyes and fulfill an old promise. That twist of fate brings her together with Lachlan once more - a man she loves but feels desperately unworthy of. It also puts her in the path of a deranged killer intent on ridding the world of prostitutes.

Will she find safety and happiness in Lachlan’s arms, or will she pay the ultimate price for the sins of her past?

...went in some weird directions. One character was shaping a weird cult like holocaust culture and the other went to investigate jack the ripper. but then it wrapped up wayyyy too soon. I assume the dangling threads will be the start of the next ones in the series.

... solid story, great performance

Yes, the story squeals Black Richards story, and yes it's only half the length of book one, but for that it is NOT lacking. If you listen closely, there is much to the debt of the story. I appreciated the lack of long drawn out storyline. Many parts kept me drawn in and unable to stop listening. Throughly enjoyed!

Excellent story! With a Ending twist!

i don't like cliffhanger endings. I most likely not read the next book; but overall it was a good book.

the issues concerning the treatment of women.

Loved this one! Keevah and Lachlan are secondary characters in Black Richard’s book and it’s great to get to know them better. The book is on the short side so the story moves along at a good clip. Lots of funny parts along with serious overall story lines. I’ve never heard a better name for a brothel than “The Tickled Pickle”!!!

Great sequel to Black Richard’s Heart

A little disappointed after reading Black Richard’s Heart. This book was short, a third of Black Richard. I found the story line lacking and not much more information on Keevah than you already knew. Not much much to the story Lachlan went to the Chisolm keep to watch over it for Black Richard. Keevah gets called backed to Inverness as a friend is dying. Lachlan as travels to Inverness to sale the Chisolm’s brothel. They meet up there again where we still know little of Keevah’s past other than Keevah had a daughter that the dying woman was raising. There is a serial killer and Keevah is taken Lachlan saves her, they married there. The three of them go back to the Chisolm keep and that is it.

It was OK…

Author completely gave up on plot line of why the clans were fighting and instead pursued a Jack the Ripper escapade. Even that was weak: why would someone hang a dress to dry on a line on a cold January night instead of draping it on a chair in front of a fire? If a murderer knew your name, wouldn’t you want to know why? I won’t be reading the third novel of this series (assuming there is one).

Disjointed

story just died. you can almost feel the authors boredom. the other books were fantastic packed full of great plot and character development. for this one felt like author just abandoned characters we’ve grown to love

weak unrealistic plot
