About this listen

To keep her family home, she must find a husband.

After the death of her father, Lady Eden’s uncle becomes the legal guardian of his estate. To her dismay, the only way he will allow her to keep her inheritance is to marry. Vowing to be the master of her own fate, Lady Eden proposes a proposition to the Honourable Harlan Strandhurst.

Harlan Strandhurst has no interest in marriage—until his latest public fiasco hits his father’s last nerve. Now, disinherited and penniless, his lack of options has him more open-minded to the idea.

Love was never part of the plan. It was simply a mutually beneficial arrangement. Yet as the lines between fact and fiction begin to blur, the pair discover very real feelings developing between them.

Author Lily Matthews delivers a clean, Regency Romance readers are sure to swoon for in Lady Eden’s Uncommon Proposal.

Story was cute, but hated the AI narrator. There were many points where voice inflection was lost. Made it confusing at times.

Cute story, bad AI narration

The story was cute and interesting but the virtual voice was terrible. I did listen to the end however because the story was engaging enough that I wanted to see how it ended. The narration was flat, un emotional and got a lot of words wrong or mispronounced. Also, an English story deserves an English accent in its voice.

Good book, bad narration

This is the first book from this author which i have encountered.

It was a DELIGHTFUL story!! And a solid clean, sweet Regency Romance.

There were a few details I think were incongruent and i had to get over (no ladies maid? C’mon!…that made her seem more naive and uncultured instead of an Earl’s daughter; it was an embarrassing author’s choice i disagree with). I think perhaps there could have been a little bit more interaction between Hero and Heroine to show the positive changes in Hero. There were also some aspects of the writing that made the heroine less bold than i initially expected her to be (one of the incongruences that bothered me). Additionally, I wished for a little deeper development of some aspects of the story, or a tying-in more completely. Perhaps this was because I grew to enjoy the characters and storyline so well. Overall, it was truly a delight!

The ending provided an excellent set up for a series (i hope there is a series!), and I am pleasantly looking forward to listening to how everyone’s stories pan out!

Narration:
All AI narrations make mistakes and can be annoying at times. Honestly, this AI narration was easy to get used to, and i felt it was fine. (I refuse to listen to awful narrations!) This one felt like I could have been reading it allowed… only with a better accent. I sped up the listening speed just a touch at times.

Delightful Story!

I hated the virtual voice. It could not seem to get the inflection right, and all of the characters sounded the same.

A nice story

The story had some interesting twists. Nice love story. Virtual voice’s intonation was off during the most exciting passages, though understandable.

Strong Female Character

Well written and has good dialogue. Charming love story with a less predictable climax. Happy ending.

A spin on a traditional love story.

Idea was fine. Execution could have been better. Didn’t hate it but won’t reread or recommend

Virtual voice was surprisingly good, sounded very natural except in a few spots. My chief complaint was that this was a British novel, and the virtual voice had a decidedly American accent. It would’ve been much more enjoyable if the virtual voice had been in a British accent.

The story was enchanting, though much od it predictable. AI reading, so no inflection/emotion

great listen

I did not like the virtual read, The virtual reading has no life to the words, which makes the story uninteresting.
