About this listen

Casey doesn't have much luck in the dating department, so when her girlfriends ditch their girls only weekend for a couple's retreat, she's forced to take desperate measures. Refusing to be the only single one, she does what any quick-thinking girl would do: She lies.

It was almost too easy hiring a stranger to pretend to be her hot, rich, successful boyfriend. What she didn't plan on was him being hot, successful, and way too much trouble for her liking.

Jim was in a slump in his everyday life. He was bored and needed something to spice up his life. Accepting a gig to play the perfect boy toy was not what he had in mind, but it was too good to turn down.

What he didn't plan for was the smokin' little spitfire who hired him. It's a con, a job, a fraud. But the more she's in his presence, the more he realizes she may be more than just a ruse.

Three days at a lake house.

Two strangers who cause a lot of mayhem.

One little lie.

Crazy Random Happenstance

I was intrigued by the concept of this book and started listening to see where the author took it. I cannot emphasize the craziness of the FMC Casey enough, but that craziness is one of the things that actually attracted Jim (the MMC) to her. This story had a great group of characters in wild adventures that frequently made me snort laugh. I loved how easily the group incorporated Jim and even though most of the story took place over the course of a weekend, I was fully on board with how quickly the relationships moved. I did spend a decent amount of time cringing due to secondhand embarrassment, but the journey was worth it.

One time listen

This was one time listen. Story was good but got boring as the story progressed. The epilogue was unsatisfied and unnecessary. It should be part of the story and not epilogue. The performance was average. They weren’t my favorite readers and so was this author. This was part of my membership. Thank goodness.

Just wow!!!

This is my first book by JD Hollyfield and I cannot wait to go read her other books. I feel everyone in their 20s-30s should read this book because damn do I feel so heard and understood with this book. I think we all at some point in our lives have known what it is like to be the only single friend in a group. Suddenly you aren’t just going out to the bars with your friends and you don’t see them as often with kids and families and all the other things that come with that. But this books just wow, it wasn’t just the romance, it was the friendships, the bromances, just everything about this book was so special. Words cannot describe how much I loved this book. P.S. so glad a book finally had pickleball in it! 10/10 would recommend!
