About this listen

International Arms—Private Military Companies—Corruption at Every Turn

US Marine veteran Mason Hackett moved to London to start his life over, and he's done his best to convince himself that what happened 15 years ago doesn't matter—the people he killed, the men he lost, the lives he ruined. But when Mason sees the face of a dead friend flash on a television screen and then receives a mysterious email referencing a CIA operation gone bad, he can no longer ignore his inner demons.

Driven by loyalty and a need to uncover the truth, Mason launches on a perilous journey from the Czech Republic to Romania toward the war-torn separatist region in eastern Ukraine to honor a 15-year-old promise. The answers he seeks—the fate of a friend and his connection to the underworld of international arms dealers and defense corporations—throw Mason into the cauldron of a covert war where no one can be trusted.

Action packed and intriguing!

This was my first audiobook by this author and I really enjoyed it. There wasn’t a dull moment in the story! The narrator did a fantastic job with the many voices and accents. I highly recommend this book!

Suspenseful, Entertaining

Mason Hackett thought he was putting most of his nightmares away when he moved to London. His military career behind him, the disastrous last mission, and he would be fine. His new job took him to out-of-the-way exotic locations. With all this he was still a haunted man, then a ghost comes back. Not just any ghost but that of a friend. What he couldn’t do the first time, Mason has a second chance at redemption.

The author, Adam Sikes creates an intriguing storyline with interesting and deadly characters. The dialogue is original and fits the plot. The plot twists are credible and are well-done. I thought the character interaction was interesting and violent at times, and all came to a believable ending.

The narrator, J J Hosenfeld once again does a great job in narration. Unique voices for each character along with believable accents. His narration is clear and with a steady pace. He brings the book to life keeping it exciting and realistic!

Overall, this is a well-written, suspenseful story with a strong and talented narrator.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.

Great First novel

Adam uses his technical knowledge to its full value with this opening number it what appears to be an upcoming series. Areas are there for improvement but this is a great first effort in my view. Well done 👍

Ehhh narrator ruined everything

The book was slow, and only the last hour was actually thrilling, but the narrator absolutely ruined anything that could be good. The story is believable and obviously the author had experience in this field. The ending was decent.
