About this listen

A poacher is at work in Sinful, Louisiana, and Deputy Carter LeBlanc is hot on the trail of the outlaw, trying to apprehend him before the state gets wind of the crime and sends a game warden to take over his investigation. Unfortunately, he's hindered every step of the way by Sinful's current mayor and all-around horrible person, Celia Arceneaux, who wants nothing more than to drive Carter to resign.

When a game warden turns up with evidence that implicates a relative of Gertie's, Carter is left with no choice but to arrest the boy, even though no one thinks he did it. With Carter under the watchful eye of Celia and the state, Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie decide to catch a poacher...before he gets away.

You just have to start at the beginning to really appreciate "the girls" and their shenanigans. One of the few series that makes me just laugh out loud! Great characters and a narrator made for this series. Ms Campbell does a wonderful job of giving personality to each. Fun cozy mystery.

What did you love best about Later Gator?

Everything! It was a good story plot, something unique to the bayou but not obvious to someone like me whose not familiar with swamps. I haven't listened to a Jana Deleon novel in a while so as the fun crazy, zany and characters I'd come to love are back and better than ever!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes the plot kept me on the edge. Although I am from Louisiana and lived in southwestern La, for sometime, I never lived or worked near a bayou. It was good story telling that led up to another mess going on in Sinful La. I enjoyed the suspense. I was working at my desk at work and managed to pay attention from start to finish. Some books I get lost in because I lose interest. Jana Deleon didn't disappoint. That's why I keep coming back!

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

Everything! She's the best. Her different voices are dead on unique and distinct. She's a talented narrator. Her talent makes me want to believe that there is more than one person voicing each character. Superb talent!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself laughing more for this story. Almost made me miss Helena and gang. The laughter wasn't gust busting funny but a few instances warranted a good laugh. I needed that while working at my desk.

Any additional comments?

Jana Deleon, you are a talented story teller! Keep up the good work! Great series!!! Looking forward to more!

She's done it again!

Jana Deleon mysteries are addictive. they're funny because the comedy comes from the characters. there's just enough romance to make things interesting and enough mystery to tease your brain.

another delightful mystery

This book is a nice breather from serious mystery.
The reader was perfect. I find 90% of women readers to be less than par so, this was double delight.
Though certainly not all fluff, the book is a nice balance and I think it lifted my spirits. I found a new author. I needed to.

Delightful little ride

I've always been a Stephanie Plum fan and these have the same humor and fun. They move fast, and the characters are great! A great way to lighten your mood and enjoy some great entertainment.

I love this series!!

Each and every Miss Fortune book is worthy of being made into a television series. With the right stars chosen to play each character, this would be a blockbuster!

Should be made into. A TV series
