Publisher's summary

This stylish, charming, and delightfully witty comedy showcases all the reasons why P.G. Wodehouse is hailed as one of the most sharp-witted writers of the 20th century. It begins when a proper British earl falls asleep in a dentist’s chair - and wakes up in the body of America’s favorite child star.

so funny

I laughed out loud. this narrator makes the story. I'm not sure it would be as funny with a different narrator.

So funny in parts!

Another ridiculously light-hearted Wodehouse - but not my favorite! I needed something funny & easy to read - which this was!

Hollywood Hijinks: *Laughing Gas* Brought to Life by Simon Prebble's Brilliant Narration

**Audiobook Review: *Laughing Gas* by P.G. Wodehouse, Narrated by Simon Prebble**

*Laughing Gas* is a delightful listen that transports you straight to 1930s Hollywood, full of humor and quirky characters. The story follows Reggie, an Englishman, and Joey Cooley, a mischievous child star, who accidentally swap bodies at the dentist, leading to hilarious misadventures in Tinseltown.

Simon Prebble, the narrator, truly excels, bringing Wodehouse’s humor to life with his dynamic performance. He skillfully captures the voice of young Joey as well as the adults around him, making each character distinct and memorable. Prebble's delivery adds an extra layer of charm, making it easy to get lost in the story and feel like you’re right there in old Hollywood.

If you’re looking for an audiobook that’s both funny and nostalgic, *Laughing Gas* is a perfect pick. The combination of Wodehouse’s wit and Simon Prebble’s engaging narration makes it an entertaining escape.

Durable humor, grammy-worthy narration

PGW wrote this inventive and often hilarious body switch Hollywood sendup preWW2. I am amazed how Simon Prebble delivers, Im familiar with his dry (and great) Dick Francis readings but had no idea of his expressive range.
My third listen in 8 years. As my memory fades with old age, my relisten interval will shorten. A fun and funny story well told.

Wodehouse's Best

Wodehouse at his best with an unbelievable performance be Simon Prebble. I have listened to this at least four times and every time, I hear something new and delightful I missed before, Don't listen to this as your first Wodehouse audio book because everything else will disappoint. Wodehouse's best novel with the best narrator. Can't be surpassed.
