Publisher's summary

Trusting him with her life is easy. Trusting him with her heart is not.

Trenton Prescott is the bodyguard tasked with protecting billionaire Alexander Whitaker’s middle daughter after his youngest is kidnapped. Unlike Trent’s usual jobs, this wealthy socialite wants no part of her protection detail, and she’s determined to fight him at every turn.

Delaney Whitaker doesn’t mind sharing a house with the eye candy assigned as her bodyguard, but she has no intention of letting him control her. When the kidnappers finally call, they demand Delaney deliver the ransom. Against Trent’s advice, she agrees. With life and death on the line, Delaney puts her safety in Trent’s capable hands.

If only she could trust him with her heart as easily as she trusts him with her life, things might not be so complicated.

Young adult Christian-themed romance

This audiobook was provided to me at no charge in exchange for an honest review.
While definitely written for young adults, I did find the story engaging. After all, who doesn’t love a dashing faith-filled hero?
The character development was sketchy and superficial with details given only insofar as the plot required. Even though the characters were somewhat two dimensional and the plot fairly predictable, the romantic in me rooted for a happy ending, and got one. Character development is certainly at a sufficient level for the teen reader/listener.
For a teen, the story is probably not long enough. For an adult, it is plenty long enough. Okay for either age group for a beach read or a plane flight.
The narrator was well-suited for the story with a young-sounding voice and an air of naïveté in her reading.
It’s not Janette Oke, but it fills a niche. I would call the book somewhat improbable, but generally enjoyable. The hero is a guy all Christian women wish really existed!
This book is likely of no interest to male readers/listeners.

Lawfully Guarded

Lawfully Guarded was entertaining and enjoyable.

I did have a few issues with the audio: there were a couple of spots where there was a very abrupt change. I’m not certain if it was a problem with the editing of the audio files or if it was how the scene transitions were handled. Either way, it was only a minor issue and I still enjoyed the story.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
