Great teaching tool

Certainly will continue to follow this author. I loved the book. As a police officer, it is not often that you can find this type of relatable material.

Paul Howe is a true leader and motivator.

If you want to perform better, push yourself harder, or lead people from the front this is the book for you. Paul Howe spent most of his life in our nations top special forces unit where selection was never ending. The amount of discipline, dedication, and determination these individuals have is astonishing. In this book Paul Howe very simplistically and methodically outlines the leadership process he gained from the military and then later perfected at his training school in Texas. Though it is geared for LE or military crowds, the lessons inside can be applied to every profession and for any leadership role. Simply put you will not regret buying this book.

5 stars, with one caveat

This is the recipe , the hows and whys backed up by real experience and authority on the subject . I only subtracted a star in overall , because I know some PDF resources for class PPTS or orders of operations checklists ect ect .. would be extremely helpful for day to day reinforcement of this material or setting up class structures and standards . Coming from a Navy guy with some TRADET experience there’s not a lot of difference in how these outlines are executed , and implemented . If you have a need to know this stuff this is the gold standard I believe without the silly theoretical hype ,other (train the trainers) systems employs or anything being discussed that’s not been validated in the forge of war .

Paul Howe sticks to the material and strays only to relevant sea stories in regards to reinforcing why something is taught so the inexperienced student can take away real reasons for why we do what we do how we do … or better yet to get the mindset of the operator or professional installed so they can analyze this world from a more experienced lens should they take Paul’s points onboard . I bought the hard copy as well to highlight and reinforce my learning , he doesn’t stray from the basics nor dip too far into fieldcraft tactics or the ever changing world of battlefield tech , but is more safety conscious with a build it one block at a time kinda method. This ensures his final product has lots of quality control built in and his programs are virtually bulletproof .
If there’s ever a way to attend his in person classes for myself now a retired civilian, I would jump on it.

Meh

If you are not military or law enforcement - particularly a special operator or SWAT - save yourself the time. This doesn’t apply to you… despite some clumsy attempts to tie very basic operator principles into business.

If you are LE or military, it’s worth a listen for free with your premium membership, but I’d never buy this. Paul Howe seems to be the real deal. So, I can forgive the ego as he has more than earned the right to brag. But this could have been a 6 hour book on being a combat leader, SWAT member, or field training officer if you trimmed out the war stories and digressions where the author complains about how soft pretty much everyone (but especially young people) are.

Excellent!

This is a no BS, tell it like it is book on both leadership and training. I am not a former soldier but I am going into law enforcement and all of the book is relevant! I've read it twice, listened to audio book once, and plan to numerous times throughout my career because his information is timeless!

Introduction to high performance teams.

A good overview and story's about the critical skills required to operate on a high performance team level in particular Military and Law Enforcement, however these critical skills required are needed in other groups such as sports too. Key idea to operate at this level you must integrate your mind, body, spirit and emotion so you can turn on and off in moments when required. the tone and pace of the audio book is very easy to follow.

quality information

lays things out in a professional ( and military ) manor that show how much the author wants his method to be replicated to better the lives and skills of soldiers and police officers everywhere.
