not good for beginners I n French

literally, hundreds of random sentences in French - and when I say random I mean completely random. This would be great for someone who already has a basic foundation of the French language. If you are looking to get some understanding of the French language prior to travel, I do not recommend this audio look at all.

Misleading title

Not only did I learn nothing while I slept but I also learned nothing while awake! This book is probably aimed at people who already have a good knowledge of French and is helpful to practice fluency. Not for those of us with high school French hoping to converse when visiting France!

Not for sleeping

There is no background music to help you fall asleep. Also the woman says a number before each phrase which is off putting, jarring and adds absolutely no value to learning. Even for learning while awake, the phrases are very long and hard to follow. I will keep trying it and over time I’ll amend my review if it does start to work but after closing in on the first week, it’s just made me sleep poorly.

Lot of various vocabulary

I first started to listen to it before going to sleep (kinda like ASMR), the voice of the narrator is very clear and gentle but after some hours in, I preferred to listen to it with a pen and a piece of paper to take notes of all the vocabulary and unknown tenses. There's so much various sentences about various subjects and a lot of vocabulary I think it was very good! Even if some might say "we won't use some of the sentences in real conversations", the amount of vocabulary you can learn from this makes it worth it. And the fact that it's said out loud at "real speed" and slowly makes it great to improve our prononciation too!

Long hours of hearing practice in one audiobook

In my personal search for improving my French skills, listening comprehension and pronunciation especially, I've found that audiobooks are of great help. This one in particular has long hours of clear and enjoyable narration, as it’s a compilation of other audiobooks into one, a big one. Very happy with this title.

Loved it

This is great to have on when I’m around the house doing menial tasks as my ear gets more accustomed to how the French language is spoken. Even though I don’t understand every single work I can notice that I am picking up more and more as the days go on. Love that it’s so long so I’m hearing new things and not the same stuff over and over again. Highly recommend if you’re in the same boat and wanting to increase your French comprehension!

Intermediate or Advanced, In-Depth or Idle

This is a great reference no matter how much work you want to put into it. The repetition is great for when I’m paying less attention or when I want to fully deconstruct the sentences. I absolutely love having two dozen hours to listen to. I almost wish the English sentence was repeated once more after the French iterations.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars to performance and story. I like the narrator but her accent sometimes makes ‘le’ sound like ‘les’. Perhaps this matters not in a practical sense. However I would prefer the producers to have had her translate the numbers separating each phrase into French. This would be helpful into the higher numbers.

Doesn't work for Sleeping

I cannot fall asleep with this title. So while it may be useful for learning French, it does not work while sleeping.

Great diversity of vocabulary, good idiomatic uses

I’ve been listening to this for a few months and have found it very useful. I do listen to it to fall asleep sometimes, but also while driving or going for a walk. I listen to chapters several times (since I sometimes fall asleep in the middle of them). It’s a good way to get the kind of repetition that is essential for language learning, without having to devote hours of focused study. I would recommend it for intermediate to advanced French learners.
