Publisher's summary
A sudden loss in Carson Alden's life brings with it an unexpected surprise that carries him home to Turner Junction. Though it's the town he was born to, it's also a place he barely remembers.
Upon his arrival at the historic Bolton Hotel, he is immediately faced with images of yesteryear, photographs on the walls that illustrate the town's rich history. There, he also meets an elderly woman known as the Duchess, the town's revered keeper of the legends, a woman who loved great and lost greater.
Lauren Hendricks first came to Turner Junction to care for her elderly grandfather, Edgar, a man who loves nothing more than riding along the Empire One's rusted rails. Now a local real estate agent, it is Lauren who will hand Carson the keys to his house, helping him unlock the secret of why he was taken from Turner Junction after the untimely death of his parents.
But Carson will find more find than a new home and a new life; he will unwittingly give rest to the town's one remaining legend.

Story
In the early days of the new millennium, pages of a worn and weathered original sonata manuscript - the gift of a Czech immigrant living out her final days in Queens - come into the hands of Meta Taverner, a young musicologist whose concert piano career was cut short by an injury. To Meta's eye, it appears to be an authentic 18th-century work; to her discerning ear, the music rendered there is commanding, hauntingly beautiful, clearly the undiscovered composition of a master. But there is no indication of who the composer might be.

Story
Lucie Montgomery's semi-estranged brother, Eli, calls her in France to tell her that their father, Leland, has been killed in a hunting accident on the family's 500-acre Virginia vineyard. But the vineyard is now shabby and run-down and her siblings want to sell it. Then Lucie's godfather tells her Leland's death was no accident. With her greedy brother, hell-raising sister, and a seemingly cut-rate vintner hired by Leland just before he died, all the suspects are disturbingly close to home.

Long and complex
I got this review copy via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story went from present to past to present and all things in between. The narrator did not show many emotions and put me to sleep many times but I hit rewind and completed the book. I am not too sure that I got the whole of the story. Billy, Marna, Hank, and so many characters to keep in mind to ensure that you understood the story.

amazing
a story full of details.... this book was very how to explain it right? I think it was very complex/.... and maybe very detailed in a very good way..... I do recommend to listen to this book without distractions, because this book is so detailed..... it was very complex ....again it was in a good way..... I don't want to tell you everything about the book.... because I will ruin your journey but it was great.... and I do admit I stopped the listen once or twice..... I had to be very concentrated...
btw the narrator was great

What a lovely story!!
I was kind of bummed when this story ended. I really enjoyed it!
It was a tad generational in that the current day story actually had it's roots 150 years hence. It was told with such deftness that you never felt the historical shift. The past absolutely came alive!
This lovely story had a bit of mystery interwoven into the legend. The big reveal was really BIG!! (Nope, I did not see that coming.)
I can't say enough about the narration. This incredibly great story was elevated by an incredibly great narrator. This was a lovely story from start to finish.
