Lera and her cousin have completed their long childhood and their training as healers. Sent to their grandparents back in Madean, they must negotiate the strange, new world and attain their werwinstans. Fate intervenes in the shape of handsome, young Ian, very human and very poisonous to the elven. Trying out her independence for the first time in her life, what will Lera decide? Where will she discover her loyalty to lay, with love or with duty?

The narrator did a great job. I enjoyed listening to this story. It took a while to become interested, but once I was in, I had to know what was next. I rate this book with 3 Boundless stars; I liked it.

Well written, but the most important part about this book is that it sets up the world and gives us a background as to where Illera comes from and where her mother went. There are some very cold aspects about this short book as far as Ian and Lera's relationship is concerned. Ian and Lera's 'bonding' is kind of sudden and then their love for each other is kind of hard to see. Plus there is a very catty mother-in-law.
It is short enough intriguing enough that I am interested to see where the author takes us in the next book of the series.
Also, I liked the narrator's performance, I feel like she did a pretty good job staying consistent with voice changes and speed.
I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Good Setup for 'Book 2'
