Publisher's summary

She didn’t think it could ever happen again. Love, that is. And it definitely shouldn’t be happening with him.

A bereaved widow finds herself with a chance at love after loss with the most unlikely of people: her late husband’s best friend.

Anna Kulis has lost her husband. Their love was a perfect kind of love; a once in a lifetime experience. She never intended to fall for anyone again. Never expected to have this attraction stirring inside her. And she never thought her emotions would run wild for the one man she shouldn’t be attracted to—her late husband’s best friend.

Mason Becker has a secret. As a renowned ladies’ man, he’s been in love with his best friend’s wife for 25 years. After his friend’s untimely death, and a period of grief, Mason finds himself in a compromising position with the one woman he didn’t think he’d ever have. And that night leads to complications—namely, a desire for more.

Letting go can be one of the hardest tasks for the heart.

Opening up to a second chance at love can be even harder.

Incredible Audiobook!

“Hearts can’t help what they want, who they love.”

Oh, my heart. I loved this book! Letting Go at 40 by L.B. Dunbar is a lovely forty plus, love after loss romance. Mason and Anna’s love story is a heartwarming tear-jerker. Their chemistry is undeniable and the heat sizzles off the page when they’re together. The friend group was amazing; the way they band together and support each other was heartwarming. I loved this blended family, friends-to-lovers, beguiling love story!

Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton are always a pleasure to listen to! I love their natural, genial rapport. The comfort and familiarity seeps into their work in the booth and enhances each and every performance. Their pacing and styles match perfectly. L.B. Dunbar’s storytelling flows gracefully. Listening to Teddy and Stella bring Mason and Anna to life in this heart-wrenching, soulful, enchanting story was extraordinary. I loved every minute, even when I was sobbing.

Great emotional story

This is the final book in this series. Anna is trying to figure out how to move forward after the loss of her husband. Through his illness, Mason (one of his best friends) was there for Ben but Anna saw a new side of Mason she didn’t know. This is an emotional story of the journey Anna and Mason go through taking care of Ben in addition to them letting go after their loss. I enjoyed watching them get to know one another and finding their way as more than friends. The narrators did a great job.

Never letting go

Wow! What a beautifully written romance. What a beautifully well written romantic story...a beautifully well written romantic grown folk's story. There was not one part of said story that faltered or wasn't engaging. I also loved the unique form and style in which the story was presented.
The characters were all well rounded, well developed and real. The dialogue was authentic and not a hint of baseless conflict.
And the sex scenes.? Scorching hot and deliciously explicit. Yet the care in which the author took to make those intimate scenes more enticing and alluring and less gratuitous-sex-scene-moment, was so divine and extremely appreciated.

I love these two narrators. Each is an automatic buy for me. Accordingly, narration was top shelf. Stella narrated more chapters than Teddy. I mean of the 48 chapters I think he may have done 20 and they were (as usual) awesome. But here's the thing, I didn't 'miss' Teddy's recited chapters. IOW, Stella could have narrated the whole story. Her male voice is that good. Don't get me wrong I appreciated that Teddy narrated the parts he did. But Stella...Stella was unbelievable good. ~ '"Hey Stella"!! Vulnerable, scared, apprehensive, determined--are some of the elements of the heroine's sensibility and she nailed each emotion. Her performance was stunning!
Get it...get this darn audiobook, you won't regret it!

Outstanding!!

L.B Dunbar is one of the best romance authors of this time. She is one of the few authors who writes 40 something characters with more mature adult issues. Her characters are well defined and her stories have real grit. Each book in this series is awesome, but I must say this is my favorite in the series. The excellent performers chosen to do the book added a new dimension and brought the story to life.

Ms. Dunbar, I envy your creativity and talent and look forward to the next masterpiece you write!

Wowza

This beautiful story was an amazing wrap up to the four points plus Anna’s brother and friend finding their way to each other. Archer needed Jenna to anchor him and bring him back to the fold of family. Jenna needed him as nothing more than a partner in life to help her find love after loss.

It was beautiful also that Anna was also finding love after loss in the most unexpected place.

The man who has loved her from a far for 23 years and gets to start showing her his truths just after the passing of her husband and his best friend. It took her a little time for the fog of grief to life for her to see the man who is so much better of a human than she ever knew because he kept himself locked away from her because he wasn’t who she needed as teens but is definitely the man to take her hand and lead her into an exciting new adventure after the loss of someone important to them.

Mason and Anna may not have been meant to be each other’s partners at 18 but at 42 for sure.

He is so different than Ben ever was so she gets to live her second chance at love in a different way.

This gem was narrated by Stella Hunter and Teddy Hamilton both of whom I just adore
