About this listen

Described as “One part Rachael Ray, one part Murder She Wrote, and one part I Love Lucy, mixed together and baked well with a layer of Agatha Christie", these hilarious whodunits will keep you listening well into the night!

This set of three novels contains books five through seven in the Lexy Baker Culinary Cozy Mystery series featuring bakery owner Lexy Baker and her posse of iPad-toting senior-citizen amateur sleuths.

Books included are:

Brownies, Bodies and Bad Guys

When a retired mobster ends up murdered and one of her grandmother’s best friends is the last one to see him alive, Lexy Baker can kiss her plans to spend an uneventful summer dreaming about her upcoming wedding to Detective Jack Perillo good-bye.

Lexy agrees to help her grandmother's octogenarian Ladies' Detective Club solve the murder. But she doesn't count on sneaking into crime scenes, interviewing kooky relatives, and following thugs around town.

But while Lexy is busy juggling her bakery, her grandmother, and the hunky FBI agent sent to investigate the murder, Jack seems to be spending a lot of time with his shapely, blonde ex-girlfriend who suddenly arrives in town.

Bake, Battle & Roll

When Lexy Baker temporarily fills in for the pastry chef at a lakeside resort, it seems like a great way to combine business and pleasure.

Until the head chef ends up with a knife through his chest, and Lexy is found bending over the body.

Suddenly, she finds herself in a race against time and battling a quirky dessert devouring detective to find the real killer in a long line of suspects.

Was it the extravagant spouse? The suspiciously acting sous-chef? The mysterious motorcycle gang?

Luckily Lexy’s iPad-toting grandma and three octogenarian friends have turned their cottage into a crime lab in order to help her sift through the sea of suspects.

Will Lexy be able to find the real killer and clear her name, or will she find that she’s up the creek without a paddle?

Wedded Blitnz

Lexy Baker is finally tying the knot with hunky homicide detective Jack Perillo. She’s planned the perfect wedding right down to her custom-designed gown. Nothing can go wrong.

Until Lexy stumbles across a double murder and one of the victims is a Bridezilla that Lexy had a major fight with just hours before. This time Jack can’t help her, because he’s been taken off the case and the gum-chewing ditzy rookie who's replaced him has put Lexy at the top of the suspect list.

Lexy calls on her amateur-detective grandmother to help her find the real killer, while she’s juggling wedding plans, trying to run her bakery, and entertaining her parents who are in town for the wedding.

Will Lexy end up with handcuffs slapped on her wrist instead of a wedding ring slid on her finger?

Excellent Story Lines

These stories are great for a weekend read. The characters are so lovable and believable. I started reading this series several weeks back. Then I found out they were on Audible, so guess what. I went back to the first book and purchased them. I'm so glad I did. They are so good. I can listen to them when I commute to work. I started following Dobbs. But this narrator has a great voice and really gets into the plot. Great job everyone.

2 out of 3 ARE BAD

Dull and predictable 1st and 3rd book. 2nd book ok, barely. Waaay too long for small story.

Lexy

I wish Lexy was not the suspect every time. Out of the 5 I listened to, she has been a suspect 4 times. It is very easy listening - which is good to wind down, but would be more interesting to me if she didn’t always find the body. I tried to like the series, always hoping for something a bit different… just not for me.

Lexi gets dumber with each murder victim discovery. Asking the same dumb questions

She goes into a completely dark business. Turns on the light, runs over to bodies while sliding in their blood. Really???
