I remember this event/trial playing as it occurred. I was the same age as Damien and from a small little farm town full of "judge the different"! I remember thinking as it unfolded those boys were NOT GUILTY. Even at my young and naive age - even I knew. I watched the updated stories over the years and never lost sight of my original thoughts.
I have had this book in my wish list forever, but never could bring myself to listen - until now! Let's just say - I could not put it down, BUT had to at times to take breaks because NEVER has my soul felt such anger for the gross injustice done to a stranger! The fact that Damien Echols still sees the good and beauty in things is mind boggling. He is on this earth to CHANGE the earth! His story needed to be told and it needed to be told BY HIM! After getting through the story the last 30 minutes literally gave me chills that wouldn't go away and I cried when Damien and Jason FIANLLY got back in the police car to GO HOME!
To every single participant in the journey of disgust and wrongness of Damien, Jason, and Jessie - perhaps we should quote TV judges and just say "May God have mercy on your souls!". Though truly, you each deserve NONE!
May every single December (my birthday too - so I get it!), Halloween, bird, tree, song, angel, God, barking dog, blowing wind, word, bite of food, glance from a stranger that doesn't know you, and any and everything from this day forward bring you NOTHING but SMILES and internal JOY for the rest of your LIFE!
Lastly - I thought Matthew McConaughey had the only voice that could read me a "Z" encyclopedia and I would hang onto every word, but I was wrong - - Damien Echols has that voice too, but sprinkled with a lot of calm and soul with it! In that you have the BEST narrator ingredients!
In the end, this book will stay with me FOREVER! Damien's words will ring in my ears from time to time until I die! What an AMAZING MAGICAL SOUL that I am grateful to have been able to see a TRUE STORY GLIMPSE INTO!
MAGICALLY AMAZING -

I loved getting to hear the voice of the accused and convicted, Damien Eckols, for once. I have followed the story, seen the documentaries and believed that these three men were innocent. A sad testament to the loss of eighteen years of life for 3 young men. The narration was superb, Damien has a very soulful voice. A obviously extremely intelligent man, just made me think what he could have done in those eighteen years. He gives a very lucid candid description of the destructive life in prison. Hope he writes/narrates more.It kept me so engaged, that I didn't wait for a drive to the beach to listen to it. I listened in snippets everyday.
Moving true story of life in prison

If you could sum up Life After Death in three words, what would they be?
Despairing mystery purenessWhat was one of the most memorable moments of Life After Death?
Knowing Damien survived itWhich character – as performed by Damien Echols – was your favorite?
Damien pure at heartWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YesAny additional comments?
I couldn't help but fall in love with the three wronged young men! I watched and read everything I could about their situation ! The best book I've ever read it makes me weak at heart to think how set up they were. I grieved for the children who died that day but worse was knowing the news made it look like Damien Jason and jessy did it! This case will change history in my book!Damien Echols will be the voice of a generation
