Publisher's summary

Interruptions: They're aggravating - sometimes infuriating. They make us want to tell people what we think of them. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. The prophet Jonah's existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. And it scared him enough to make him run in the opposite direction. Yet, what seemed to him to be an unnecessary and useless interruption was really an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen before. This interruption was really a divine intervention and it held more adventure and possibility than he could have ever imagined.

We, like Jonah, tend to run from interruptions. When major pains and minor problems cause a hiccup in our carefully calculated plans and goals we head in the opposite direction. Who knows what we might be missing by running from what could very well be God’s means of steering us towards the most magnificent outcome of our lives. Jonah could tell us a story or two. So could you. And so does popular conference speaker and author Priscilla Shirer in this very personal account of opportunities lost and lessons learned - and the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God even when He's going against your grain.

Needs Priscilla's Narration

Any additional comments?
I hope Priscilla Shirer will re-record this wonderful book in her own voice. She does a beautiful job on her other book, The Resolution for Women, and I feel her voice would be better here as well.

Changed my life!

This book literally changed my life. I went from feeling like a victim of my circumstances to being excited about what the Lord was actively trying to accomplish in me. That feeling has lasted 6 years!!!

A Must Read

This book was definitely a must read. So often we think about and judge the characters of the Bible; however, if we are honest - there's a little bit of each of them in all of us. I am definitely Jonah. How many times has God told us to do something and we decided we'd rather do something else? Priscilla has the best way of breaking things down.

Disappointed not read by author

Initially, I was surprised not to hear the author narrating this book. That would have and still is my preference. It has taken awhile to acclimate to a different narrator and thus, has slowed down listening to the book. I hope that this will be re-recorded with the author's voice. Hearing the intonations, affirmations and just the encouraging, emphatic voice of Priscilla Shirer is encouraging and uplifting and promotes a greater impact on enjoying the book and pondering/aborbing the content. This narrator is okay, but since Priscilla Shirer is a speaker, fans/followers of her have heard her voice. And, once one has heard her reassuring, commanding, yet gentle voice, there is absolutely no comparison or acceptable substitute. Of course, the content of the book is excellent. Listening via Audible is very convenient, but I implore Audible to please change the narrator. It makes a difference.

Great insights

This is my second book by this author and I have gained great encouragement from both.

The speaker was pretty annoying to listen to. She had great inflection in her voice that seemed to match well with the author's intended meaning, but her over-pronunciation of words was weird and down right distracting.

Great Book

A great book I'd recommend.

I of course just so happen to begin the book at the perfect time. No running from my Nineveh.

My only dislike was the reader; the voice was very soft and for me to have read other books by and heard the author speak several times I didn't feel as though the audible voice matched the "voice" of the story nor the passion of the author.

HOWEVER the message is one that is so important that focus must shift to that and not be distracted by the reader's voice.
