Common Sense but a good reminder

When this started off, I had the impression I had been roped into going to the newest self-help seminar. That charismatic speaker with a few well place, "...I know you may not want to hear this but I will tell this for the three people who do...", wink, wink comments. I hung in there anyway. I do not regret it. There are many common sense ideas and points about building habits, removing negative roadblocks, and realistic baselining of ideas. Though they are common sense, does not mean a reminder was a bad thing. I finished the book with a desire to listen a second time and pay more attention to the actions and exercises.

Ryan Kennard Burke did a great job of conveying the text. His delivery was, as mentioned, a charismatic telling that engaged the listener.

This is not going to be fore everyone--no book is. Listen to the sample, try it out yourself.

habit forming

when ever I finish a self help book I always reflect, did it change my life? And the answer is usually no. because a book can not change your life only you can change your life. However, lifelong writing habit has come the closest to actually giving me the tools to do so. I especially love the extra mile he's gone to explain the psychology of habits and apply it specifically to writing. I conf as that knowing why something is hard makes me more inclined to overcome it.

I also appreciate the way he has compiled the exercises into one chapter at the end of the book for easy reference.

did this book motivate me? yes. but more importantly it makes me want to stay motivated.

The narrator Ryan kennard Burke is a great speaker. he brings life to this non fiction book and reads it in a way that made me want to keep listening, rather than tune it out as background noise.

straightforward auggestions

I read tons of self-help books. I have read many in this genre of how to write, write faster, continue onward and so forth.

This book is a keeper because it gives practical straightforward advice and illustrations. The bottom line is you have to make a decision to write and find the time by manipulating your day. Like all books it tells you to track your writing and make goals. The author makes it clear that it is up to you and if you want to succeed you will take the time even if it is 5 minutes a day.

I enjoyed the narrator and the subject matter very much. It is an encouraging book but at the same time it is one where it is on me and not on anyone else. I have done most of the exercises and plan to continue to implement what I've learned and I may be reading the rest of his series. I think I like it the most because it is an engaging style to listen to and to read. If you want simple as in easy to comprehend and implement this is a book for you but at the same time it is not simplistic.

if you're uncertain, I think you should get a sample of the book if you can ( ebook) or whatever and see if it is something along the lines that you need. I found that it is going to work very nicely for me.

What you need to here, and how you need to hear it

The straight forward approach to the way things are explained here cut deep but in a way that is needed in order to get through to some of the tougher bad habits. I have tried for years to force myself to write every day, yet I fail every time. With the things that are written in this book it finally feels like I am making some headway in making good habits and flipping the old ones.

A genuine thank you.

pretty good advice

This book gives solid advice and will help get you motivated to get cracking. I have a few of his other ones as well and have yet to be dissatisfied. I also like how the narrator reads it, and like his no BS let's get to the point.
