About this listen

It's 1877 and Russian forces occupy the Pacific Northwest. They are advancing into California. New weapons have proven ineffective or dangerously unstable. The one man who can help has disappeared into Apache Country, hunting ghosts. A healer and a former sheriff lead a band into the heart of the invasion to determine what makes the Russian forces so unstoppable while a young inventor attempts to unleash the power of the lightning wolves.

The story continues to surprise me. I liked the first one and this one is good too.

"This audio book was gifted to me by the narrator at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review."

Still going strong!

I really cannot honestly read this book. The narration is so poor, read like a sixth grader performing an essay in front of the class, but I'm not exactly sure how good the story was. It's seems to have good elements it's seems to have interesting characters.
But the narration is very poor, very and Leslie Road, has no dents no flow… I really cannot speak to how terrible it is.

Terrible narrator

An enjoyable continuation of the Clockwork Legion series. If you enjoy steampunk & the Wild, Wild West, this series is for you!

The book has action & adventure, romance, war and clockwork. There is a clockwork lobo, lightning wolves, flying clockwork owls & a mining javelina. The inclusion of real historical figures like Billy the Kid adds a lot of fun to these books. There is also a Samurai warrior & a wedding. Very entertaining!

The narrator does an excellent job with various voices for the characters that adds to the enjoyment of the book. I look forward to more books like this from Mr. Summers.

Steampunk at its best!

audiobook, action-adventure, steampunk, alternate-history, western, cultural-exploration, aliens, historical-figures

Really prods the reader to dig around and examine some of the real history included in the story! There's a samurai turned farmer, the Clanton brothers and some other outlaws, Geronimo, ornithopters, Russians, aliens, bigotry, greed, philosophy, and lots more. And it's STEAMPUNK! Well written fun for all with very interesting characters and clear imagery.
Edward Mittelstedt does a fine audio interpretation with clear speech and good definition of the characters.

More fun!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
I have to say that I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Living in New England and hearing stories of a warmer and somewhat simpler time is comforting.
Like the first, a rambling story about living and loving in the alt. steam age. Enjoy it.

Alt. History you'll actually like.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

In my opinion, this series had such a great premise, but the execution is just...meh. When I reviewed the first book, I hadn't listened to very many narrators, so didn't have a lot to compare with. Now that I have a lot more to compare against, I can see he has a lot of room for improvement. He tried to give each character a unique voice, but his accents were terrible! As with the first book, I just got used to it and it eventually stopped being a distraction. I don't think I'll bother with the 3rd book in the series.

Just OK... needs a better narrator
