About this listen

The first four novels of The Day After Never series.

They said it couldn't happen...

...the day would never come.

They were wrong.

The apocalypse was five years ago. Little has changed. There isn't any law, but there used to be. Back then, Lucas Shaw had been a Texas lawman. Now he's just trying to survive.

In a kill-or-be-killed wasteland, death is always around. Will today be his last?

When a young woman enters his life, he must make an impossible decision: help her in a battle against an adversary who'll stop at nothing or keep himself alive. Which will he choose?

A highly acclaimed post-apocalyptic series from The New York Times and USA Today best-selling author at a special bundle price.

glad I took a chance!

I had this on my Wish List for a while, but it was the 1st book in series, and something has always made me hesitant- I'm especially picky when the books arent long to listen to. I listen to books when I work, so if I'm spending the money, I want it to last more than a day, and it has to be GOOD.
so whenever I saw the box set of the 4 books in series, I grabbed it.
I am GLAD I did! it was very good. I normally listen to the EMP books, where they go out in forest, or travel cross country...your typical book in this genre.
but this was different, and it was nothing short of great.
I hope they're is more in this series and they come out in a set again! way to go!

Good listen for the most part. Pretty violent.

Glad I finally listened to this, I had passed it up many times. It surprised me right off the bat at how it caught my attention. For 4 books it is a good deal. Couple things that I don’t like are that the author is obviously intelligent or trying to sound intelligent. The characters use words that people don’t typically use and often have conversations that normal people would not have. Even snake who sounds like he should sound like stereotypical hillbilly, talks in ways that doesn’t make sense for his character. I also hated Sierras character. The author made her out like and idiot. Every time she opened her mouth I cringed. The female species is actually intelligent but apparently if the world ends we won’t be able to defend ourselves at all and will become every evil mans property. The idea that evil will take over may not be off but the way this book depicts it the world will be taken over by prisoners and all women will become useless property seemed a little to extreme for me. Also after 5 years gasoline would not work anymore. Oh and a mom would have fought even harder to get her child and would not have left him in the first place. Lucas’ inability to understand that concept also made it evident to at the author is a male.
Still worth a read.

Great story

The story was great. The main protagonist’s voice sounds like a mix of Sam Elliot, and Christian Bale’s Batman. Really gruff and often times sounds like he is trying to hard to sound rough. But other than that I really enjoyed the series. I recommend it.

Had to stop

Good book, great writing, but VERY dark! Too much for me right now. Not a fan the bad guys, hope they get their's in the end.

I can’t stand sierra

I love the story like the timeline think everything is great and believable, but I cannot stand Sierra. She is the epitome of a weak willed ditzy, moronic woman of the 50s who can’t decide what to do with her life. She jumps at a whim. She can’t see consequences to her actions. She is just nauseating and I’m sort of losing respect for Lucas for falling for her. I sure as hell. Hope you cap her and get her off the series. She’s just awful.

Pretty good book, a little bland

It got sorta repetitive, overall enjoyed first 4 books. Pretty good action however, don't think I'll read anymore.

ANNOYING

I almost like this series. Almost except for the young female character in this book. Why is the book so cliché. The hero goes for the young and dumb damsel in distress? I was hoping beyond hoping for the Ladies death but I knew better because the book is pretty predictable. I would continue with the series if she would no longer in it but because the book is so predictable I’m sure she still has a part in this series and she’s just too annoying to continue.
