About this listen

Detective Helen Grace faces her own dark compulsions in the new thriller from the international best-selling author of Pop Goes the Weasel and Eeny Meeny.

In a world where disguises and discretion are the norm, and where one admission could unravel a life, a killer has struck, and a man is dead. No one wants to come forward to say what they saw or what they know - including the woman heading the investigation: Detective Helen Grace.

Helen knew the victim. And the victim knew her - better than anyone else. And when the murderer strikes again, Helen must decide how many more lines she's willing to cross to bring in a devious and elusive serial killer.

Cursed!!!

No one person could have this much bad luck. I hate that it ended with a cliffhanger!

is this the end?

DI Helen Grace is possibly the most original fictional detective to come along in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed the series so far and Elizabeth Bower is wonderful to listen to, I am starting Hide and Seek tomorrow!

Helen Grace rules!

This was another excellent Helen Grace story. Old characters were further developed and new ones added to this story and helped set up their future involvement in Helen's life. Helen is truly a tragic figure; always trying to help others and do what's right but somehow seeing her efforts turned and twisted.

Entertaining series about a very flawed copper.

Where does Little Boy Blue rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I do love a police procedural and the Helen Grace books are quite good but they're pretty implausible. I did not like that it is a cliffhanger and you need to read #6 to get closure.

If you’ve listened to books by M. J. Arlidge before, how does this one compare?

This one is a very long story broken into two books (5/6) but it is a continuation of the primary theme that runs throughout - our heroine, Helen, comes with a whole lot of personal baggage that overlaps - and often comes close to ruining - her police career.

What about Elizabeth Bower’s performance did you like?

She's great and transitions smoothly between characters. She actually saves some of the lamer parts of the book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No - this is not a edge-of-your-seat type of read.

Any additional comments?

Standard stuff from Aldridge.

This is a very good who done it.
The Helen Grace series is a cut above. I think it helps to read these in order but it's not a requirement. Very, very good.
