About this listen

Four very different women navigate one of life's most wonderful and perilous transitions: the journey of new motherhood.

Rebecca Rothstein Rabinowitz is a plump, sexy chef who has a wonderful husband, a restaurant that's received citywide acclaim, a beautiful baby girl and the mother-in-law from hell. Kelly Day's life looks picture-perfect. But behind the doors, she's struggling to balance work, motherhood and marriage, while dealing with an unemployed husband who seems content to channel-surf for eight hours a day. Ayinde Towne's already on shaky ground, when her basketball superstar husband breaks her trust at the most vulnerable moment in her life, putting their marriage in peril -- and thrusting their new family further into the public eye. Then there's Lia Frederick, a Philadelphia native who has left Los Angeles behind, along with her glamorous Hollywood career, her husband, and a tragic secret.

With her trademark warmth and humor, Weiner tells the story of what happens after happily ever after.

Not bad for chick lit

It's an easy read and typical chick lit. The narrator was not bad and that made the book more pleasurable.

More than your average "chick lit"

This book is heavier than the regular "chick lit" fluff, but still an enjoyable listen. Some of the book is heartbreaking, and some of it hilarious. Great read for a new (or any!) mom!

LOVE!! (Trigger warning)

What a fantastic book. So glad I found this one. Trigger warning for death of a child, b but still a well-rounded and beautiful story of women, friendship, marriage, and motherhood.

Great book for mothers

This book is a relatable book for mothers from all different walks of life, each dealing with their own life crisis yet bonding together in a sisterhood that only mothers understand.
The narrator was not bad but sometimes annoying when reading a male's line. Other than that it was enjoyable.

A solid “meh” for me

I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more had I been closer to the baby years. Just ok.

My first from this author

I liked the multiple stories within the one story. This kept my interest. The author was able to clearly delineate the different personalities which is not always the case for some authors.
While I felt there was a bit of overkill on the difficulties of a new baby, all in all it was a good story.

Beautiful!

I LOVE this story. Realistic, wonderfully written, perfect narration. Easy to get lost in and you'll want to hear it again once it's over the first time! HIGHLY recommend it!
