About this listen

For Kate Klein, suburbia's been full of unpleasant surprises. Her once-loving husband is hardly ever home. The supermommies on the playground routinely snub her. Her days are spent carpooling, and at night, most of her orgasms are of the do-it-yourself variety. So when a fellow mother is murdered, Kate finds that the unsolved mystery is one of the most interesting things to happen in Upchurch. She launches an unofficial investigation with the help of two friends and discovers the secrets and lies behind the town's placid picket-fence facade - and the choices and compromises all modern women make as they navigate between independence and obligation, small towns and big cities, being a mother and having a life of one's own.

This was a wonderful book that sucked me in and had integrity all the way through. The details of the characters were very engaging and I really enjoyed listening to this book on audible.

good mystery

I have particularly followed Jennifer Weiner’s career ever since learning that she grew up in Simsbury CT where I now live. Her satirical take on Avondale (ahem- Avon, CT) is spot on and the narration of the book is an added plus.

My town is her town

Twists and turns! You’ll never guess who did it. It was difficult to turn off!

A must read!

this author ususlly writes humorous general fiction, and I love it. However, I am a diehard mystery/suspense fan. this book could fall under that category. It had a great story line that kept me entertained and humor too. great read/listen. wish she had more in this genre

great balance of humor and mystery

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The character development was kind of lacking and predictable.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, probably not. The plot really isn't all that interesting. Though I listened to the whole book, it was not very intriguing.

Any additional comments?

The non existent relationship with Evan and the boring marriage made me feel badly for the main character. The ending was not what I expected, but it was still not all that interesting.

Alright Listen

I liked this book - I like Little Earthquakes better - but I enjoy Weiner's books overall. It's a good little mystery book, kept me entertained!! I'd recommend it to anyone who likes ChickLit!
