About this listen

A mother's chance decision leads to a twist of fate that is every parent's worst nightmare.

Claire Rawlings, mother of two and medical resident, will not let the troubling signs of an allergic reaction prevent her from making it in for rounds. But when Claire's symptoms overpower her while she's driving into work, her two children in tow, she must pull over.

Moments later, she wakes up on the floor of a gas station bathroom - her car and her precious girls have vanished. The police have no leads, and the weight of guilt presses down on Claire as each hour passes with no trace of her girls. All she has to hold on to are her strained marriage, a potentially unreliable witness who emerges days later, and the desperate but unquenchable belief that her daughters are out there somewhere.

Little Lovely Things is the story of a family shattered by an unthinkable tragedy. Played out in multiple narrative voices, the novel explores how the lives of those affected fatefully intersect and highlights the potential catastrophe of the small decisions we make every day.

Thought she could have concluded better what happened to the kidnapper, part two I hope

Conclusion could have been better

I was sucked in from the very beginning. I did want more at the end.

gripping

don't listen to the bad reviews. There is an annoying voice of a bird but it's over in a few seconds. I really like the story and you will too.

real good

This book was very sad and emotional throughout. The ending was hopeful for the reunited family but I felt like I was left hanging at the end on many levels. Was that intentional for a sequel?

Left hanging at the end!

was a dramatic book. Makes one think about how devestating it would be to your life to have your children taken away from you. And also losing one to death in the process.

Dramatic

When the narrator is telling the story you can barely hear her. Therefore you have to have the volume up a little bit. But look out! Because when she imitates an animal or a loud voice, it is beyond a level of irritation that I can explain. I encourage consideration to re-release this book with a different narrator, because the story itself was pretty good. It took all I had to get through it though because of that voice.

OMG the narrator is HORRIBLE. Story ok but yikes!

This book was SO good; I listened to it in two days. I usually listen to psychological thrillers, but in the last year I’ve been disappointed in books I’ve read. I’ve been thinking that there aren’t any good ones left!
But then I saw this one; the reviews are mostly good so I gave it a shot.
Some things in the storyline are a bit unbelievable; I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have handled in the same way(way too risky to me) the initial event where things went so wrong for this mother portrayed in the book, but everyone is different. And she’ll never get over that decision.
The only thing that bothers me is the ending. It left me hanging and wondering how everything works out for those involved. Maybe the author is writing a sequel or something, but it does leave you hanging.
Overall, I highly recommend this book.

Fabulous read!

I really enjoyed the story in the beginning -- all very realistic and I could see how something so horrible could happen. As the story progresses it's almost like there wasn't a logical plan for how to wrap it up and it got pretty out there with hard-to-accept happenstance. The story has an abundance of descriptions with so many details, yet when the end comes it's just blammo -- over, no epilogue, and long-developed storylines left hanging. I listen while I walk and have my ear buds in at a level where I can also hear surrounding noises, but suddenly like with the bird screeching or child voices, it got so loud It was painful.

Good basic story concept. Strong start, weak end.

i like this very much. it was a tiny bit predictable but also one of those cozy reads... perhaps because of that.

good story, good reader
