Publisher's summary

In our instant-gratification culture, we consume a fleeting, shallow diet of media, relationships, entertainment, and spirituality. Our souls go hungry, longing for a fuller, more satisfying life.

Best-selling author and beloved pastor Jack Hayford shows, in what has become a modern-day classic, how we can feed our deepest places with the sustaining Bread of Life. With warmth and wisdom, he reveals how we can link our souls to timeless practices and principles set forth in Scripture. He invites you to rediscover the power and blessing of these spiritual disciplines - of true spirit-fullness.

Even more, he shows how these spiritual disciplines are relevant for today and how we can practice them in our quick-paced, surface-level culture. When we take time to fast and pray, worship daily, feed on God's word, and more, we fully enter the rich adventure of becoming an effective disciple of Christ - ensuring that our souls will never go hungry.

Inspirational, Informative, and Indelible

An intimate portrayal of a deeply heartfelt relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. I want to meet this author! I also was riveted by the presentation of the narrator: He didn’t sound at all like he was reading, but actually speaking to me, almost as if he was the author himself. This book has been a transforming experience.

Disciplines to Eagerly Pursue

This book is magnificent, and, unknowingly, I bought a revised and expanded edition. So, while reading along (as is my habit), the third portion of my book was absent. I searched Mr Hayford’s other Audible books to find it under the title Walking the Path of Prayer - there are editorial changes, but this book was what included in my publication, but missing from this narration. All that aside, Mr Hayford is spectacular, spelling out important scriptures in the Bible and telling of word origins that bring amazing clarity.

The first part is The Spirit-Formed Disciple, spelling out how a disciple is made. The second part are The Disciplines of the Spirit, essentially, fundamental elements in order to feel the Holy Spirit always: Committing to Hear God’s Voice, Living in the Power of Baptism, Celebrating the Lord’s Table, Walking in the Spirit of Forgiveness, Feeding on the Word of God, Maintaining Integrity of Heart, Abiding in the Fullness of the Spirit, Living a Life of Submission, Practicing Solitude, and Living as a Worshiper. Jack Hayford tells of their necessities, and Maurice England speaks of them wonderfully! I’ll surely read/listen to this and Walking the Path of Prayer again!

Great book - highly recommend

Transformative, insightful, motivating, and routed in scripture. The structure of the book is easy to follow and great for personal growth or as a resource for a small group.
