LOVING THIS SERIES!

I am not one to read romance books, not at all. This series is labeled as Historical Romance. I read historical fiction & non-fiction. But, this ongoing story beginning before the Civil War, does an excellent job offering perspectives on events from multiple characters. It's wonderful how Ms. Dye creates characters with such emotional depth & writes about serious, even controversial topics like how the AMA took over medicine in the 1800's, pushing out doctors who were treating with homeopathic remedies by excluding these doctors from their medical schools & openly mocking them in society. I have truly enjoyed this journey getting to know Carrie, Rose & Aunt Abby the most. I am about half-way through as I begin Book 11. I highly recommend listening to these stories by audiobook because it brings the entire story to life with different voices & intensity! Thank You Ginny Dye for such a beautiful story of 1800's culture both in the North & the South!

Great series

As usual these books keep me ‘looking forward to the future’ books of this series. My only critique of this book is for 11 year old Frances whose been forced to grow up fast, her voice and vocabulary is way too childish. She doesn’t sound much older than 5 year old John, Rose and Samuel’s son. Kinda caught a nerve when I heard it. But she is a great addition to the story.

Great story but ...

I have enjoyed listening to this series. I was disappointed and sad to hear of the passing of Christine Cunningham Smith. It took some adjustment to get used to Tiffany Dougherty. What really disappoints me now is the poor editing of recording mistakes and the extreme accents Ms. Dougherty uses. The series are good and I will continue with it but hope these areas can be addressed.

Simply love this book series ...

I had been waiting for "Looking To The Future" to become available on Audible. Currently I have more time to listen than to read. Once I got started, I did not want to stop. I am totally invested in Carrie Cromwell Borden's story. All the characters seem so real, and the historical details have educated me with facts I never knew. I am still adjusting to Tiffany Dougherty's narration, but she is doing an admirable job of giving voice to the myriad of characters in the story. Well done. Looking forward to #12.

needs improvement

I am not impressed with the new narrator, especialmy on this book. She continually mispronounces things. She slaughtered the Navajo pronunciation of their language. She also switched the first letters of some of the characters . I love Ginny Dye booksand the story line, but people may want to forgo listening to the audible version of this one and read it instead.

Disappointed with new narration

I have thoroughly enjoyed the story line but do not enjoy the new narrative after the passing of the-long time veteran. Not sure I can finish the series. Disappointed
