About this listen

On the world of Colchis, mighty religions rule a decaying society in the name of absent gods - until the arrival of Lorgar. Primarch, prophet, leader of destiny, the Golden One is raised by Kor Phaeron, priest of the Covenant, to be his weapon in a quest for power.

As religious war spreads across the planet, spearheaded by the Brotherhood of Lorgar, the primarch is plagued by visions of the future and the coming of the Emperor. To find his place in this new order, he must reach balance between the teachings of his adopted father, Kor Phaeron, and the fate that he knows awaits him among the stars.

Good Start for lorgar

This is the only Primarch book that actually does what I thought the series would do when I first heard of it: it explores the titular character's childhood and rise to power on his homeworld in detail. For that alone it makes for great reading. Colchis has a fascinating culture and religion, and we learn about the boy Lorgar once was, and how he was once the purest of all his brothers. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to read story of heroism, cruelty, and faith.

Lorgar's Childhood

I absolutely love this writer and the narrator for it did not disappoint! I plan on listening to it again!

Loved it!

The book cuts from Lorgars childhood, to some of his huge moments as a primrach. Make no mistake though this is primarily a look into how Lorgar became who he was, the people who made him so and shows the seeds of how he and his legion would spark the horus heresy. This is one of the better primarch books because it spends most of its time on the primarch, their upbringing and the planet they were born, raised, and then taken from.

I reccomend!

A great view of how Lorgar was Forged.

I loved exploring Lorgar’s arrival on Colchis and learning how Kor Phaeron has laid the seeds for the Heresy ages before anyone suspected...

Awesome Origin Story

I hesitated on this one because I not a huge Gav Thorpe fan and because I didn’t think anyone else really could do justice to Lorgar other than ADB, but this was good. One of the better on the Primarch series, in my opinion. Yes, there is more KP than Lorgar in the book, but it makes sense, it is enjoyable and does justice to the subject matter.

Top Primarch Book

From the very beginning this book had me enraptured. I listened to the whole book in one session, then the next day listened to it again. Lorgar's journey in his early years truly paints a picture of a well meaning person, twisted and manipulated by a zealous and vain man in Kor Phaeron.
The narration by Jonathan Keeble was excellent. Highly recommend!

My favorite primarch novel!

If you enjoy Lorgar as a conflicted character and as one of the antagonists and primary instigators of the Heresy, you will enjoy this novel.

Great insight into Lorgar's early life.
