About this listen

I have a secret.

A secret that chased me away from my home, my family, away from the only man I've ever loved.

I took that secret and pushed it down inside of me.

So far down, that it never had a chance of coming out.

That dirty little secret was like a seed. A seed that took root and grew to become a piece of me.

But what happens when that secret has finally outgrown me?

When its vines climb over every wall I have in place?

When it finally overfills that little spot inside of me that it's been buried in for so long now?

All secrets come out eventually.

I just hope mine doesn't destroy everyone I love.

She sacrificed it all...

A secret separates a girl from not only her family but her soul mate, but that secret is... there's more to what's she hiding. She just doesn't have the courage to dismantle the lives of those she loves. It's a courageous sacrifice for a teenage girl to selflessly turn to exiling herself from the life she's always known and standing on her own two feet to protect her family, but that's just what Lex does. She's strong enough to protect everyone until she returns home for her sister's wedding events and comes face to face with Stryker, the boy she left behind. But what she's keeping from him could not only shatter him, but her family, and her hometown.

But Stryker's resolve to prove his love for Lex is more powerful than she could have imagined, and he doesn't care who tries to stand in his way.

Sarah Puckett narrates Losing a Piece of Me flawlessly, narrating dual POV-male and female. I could literally feel the raw emotion of Lex's plight in Ms. Puckett's voice as if the story she told was her own. KB Andrews maintains a deep suspense throughout the story, only unearthing the harrowing secrets at the climax when it all comes crashing down, tugging and ripping at your heartstrings with every word spoken.

Losing a Piece of Me

What a beautiful story. This was my first book by this author and it won't be my last. Absolutely stunning prose. It was emotional and steamy and the perfect balance of angst. I was hooked from the beginning and did not want to put it down.

The narrator brings that prose to life perfectly. I loved the tones used and sometimes I struggle when the narrator attempts different voices, but I didn't feel that here. I felt overall her narration was pretty seamless and I really enjoyed it. I felt the emotion even more listening to the story.

Secrets kill

The story was heartbreaking due to the level of secrecy. The two main characters kept so much inside, it literally hurt to hear. It was like a sad real life story that you thought would never end. Like the two would never get their lives together.

Great Listen

KB ANdrews did a brilliant job in writing this story. This had everything in it from love and all the family secrets which keeps you on your toes so you really aren't sure what is about to happen. Of course I fell in love with Striker, the kid from the wrong side of the tracks who is an absolute gem and genuine. Lex is a girl struggling with who she really is and who her mom wants her to be. The secrets that are hidden over the years are perfectly revealed with just a little bite or two here and there and then at the end it all comes out. I found this book incredibly easy to listen to with the narrator doing an excellent job bringing both characters to life.

Little angsty and a lot steamy

Audio-book: Narrator - Sarah Puckett

Wow! This narrator did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. Putting them front and center without ever taking me out of the story due to her voice fluctuations. I felt she did an excellent job of both male and female leads as well as a distinction between secondary characters.

Years ago Lex and Striker were everything to one another. After promising each other forever, Lex leaves their small hometown and never returns leaving Striker devastated and broken. Now six years later she’s returned and Striker is determined to find out what the secret she’s holding is all about.

This was a pretty angsty book with some flashbacks to earlier years - some of these flashbacks were hard to follow on the audio. This couple were always meant to be together but there were so many obstacles in their way and even now so many years later, nothing has really changed.

I loved how dedicated Striker was to Lex, but was disappointed that he didn’t hunt her down sooner or follow her once he saw her again. I also felt that the reason this couple were kept apart 6 years ago was a little weak now at the age they were. Surely there was a way to work things out in a mature adult manner.

Despite those things, I did enjoy this book as well as the characters. It was hot and steamy, relatively quick, and had some great supporting characters. The epilogue was extremely satisfying as well and I was happy I had the chance to listen to it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I'm impressed!

When I first started listening to this book, I was not impressed at all. I thought it would be super predictable and angsty. I continued listening to it just to have that "called it" moment. So, imagine my surprise to find out that everything I thought was going to happen didn't. Imagine my surprise to find that I slowly got hooked on the book and just had to hear more! Also, why can't there be more? There are a few issues I have with this book, but most of them are petty and immature. There are parts that I personally don't feel are realistic, but that may be more because I don't have experience with it than it being unrealistic. Just being honest. I'm not going to delve into too much because I don't want to spoil this book for anybody. I do recommend this book. Especially for romance readers who love the second chance stories. There are several people in my past that I always wonder what would have been. Reading stories like this are cute, but they remind me that the people of my past are in my past for a reason and there's no HEA there like there are in these books.

MY Thoughts on Losing a Piece of Me :

**I Received this audible by the author for an honest review**

I will admit .. It took me a bit to listen to this book. But as I listened on, I was entranced in the second chance store of Striker and Lex. Sometimes, what you thought was right isn't. Listening how she was trying to do what was right only to reveal the secrets the didn't want out. An emotional story you felt as you listened to it all. A must for everyone who needs a cry! 4.5 Stars~Chris

I enjoyed the story, characters, and narration!

The narrator, Sarah Puckett, did a wonderful job of conveying the emotions in the story as well as distinguishing between the characters.

Losing a Piece of Me is a story about love, loss, and second chances. A secret kept Lex and Striker apart but life brought them back together. As the secret unfolds everyone surrounding Lex and Striker are affected. I enjoyed this story and the characters.

The narrators did a amazing job making this story come to life! Striker and Lex in love until someone threatens Lex and she moves away. Years go by and Lex is back and Striker just wants to know the truth. Very intense audio book filled with passion, lies and love definitely a must listen to for any romance listener. 5/5 stars

Emotional story

This book was quite emotional. A lot of lies and many half truths. Blood relatives who judge and mistreat instead of giving support. Two young lovers almost ruined beyond redemption. Lifelong scars. The beauty of pure love and forgiveness. Taking a second chance at happiness.

Sarah Puckett did a good job with this narration. I liked her voice and her pacing.
I'd have liked this book even better with dual narration. My only problem was rather technical. Sometimes the timelines were hard to distinguish. Flashbacks and dreams are pretty easy to tell apart while reading but it's harder and a bit confusing in audio.
