About this listen

"The story starts firmly in contemporary thriller territory… [but] has more in common with Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White and Anne Rice's…The Wolf Gift."
San Francisco Chronicle

When journalist Rachel Elliot is assigned to cover the demolition of the supposedly haunted Taylor mansion, Rachel's deep-seated cynicism quickly tells her there's something behind billionaire Peter Cameron's fierce commitment to raze the old place. As Rachel investigates, passions begin to flare between her and Peter, just as horrifying secrets are revealed about their pasts and a decades-old mystery. As Rachel's and Peter's feelings intensify, Rachel has an eerie sense that they've both been here before....

Refreshingly different!

A slow starter--but well with sticking with! I liked that the story felt fresh, not so similar to some I had already read. Not easily predictable. The author is good with descriptions- you SEE what is described, but sometimes it goes on a bit too long- and you just want to get to the next part of the story. But enjoyable!
