About this listen

Love Lessons is a classic enemies-to-lovers YA romance set against the backdrop of the intense college admissions process.

For as long as she can remember, Sara Brooks has dreamed of going to Harvard. Every single choice she's made in life has led her to her picture-perfect early application. So when she gets an email saying she's been deferred to the regular admission pool, she is devastated. It's when Sara visits her guidance counselor that she learns the truth: While she always assumed she was first in her class, she's actually third. And what's worse, she's been knocked off the top spot by Charles Chase, an entitled, preppy doucher who's got all the advantages in the world. In that moment, Sara realizes that if she wants to get into Harvard, she has to take Charles down and become valedictorian.

Enter Ethan Perry, Sara's academic nemesis, who she's spent the last four years competing with for every grade and project, and who's currently in the number two spot. When Ethan is also deferred at Yale, Sara and Ethan realize that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", and vow to work together to take out Charles. From there, valedictorian is anyone's game. It's the perfect plan - until Sara’s rivalry with Ethan starts to turn into something more....

Fun, snarky and perfect for fall reading!

The author does a *wonderful* job bringing Sara to life in all her over-acheiever snarky glory. A 'life didn't go as planned' book but with a fresh take on college applications, teaming up with the enemy to take down a spoiled rich kid, and lots of swoony moments. <3

An excellent presentation with a witty and sophisticated plot.

Each chapter has a cliff hanger that draws you into the next chapter so it is impossible to turn It off.
The dialogue is unique and exceptional.
There is a great message about trust and learning the value of the people who are part of your life.
One of the best books of the year.

Like spending time with a friend

I adored this sweet, fun audiobook about a driven high schooler who learns that connecting with others is more important than earning straight As. Fun sound effects and engaging narration! Would be especially great for a teen considering colleges. I laughed out loud several times!

Fun story with hilarious zingers

Annette captures the smart protagonist in a high school frame of mind, with funny zingers about others. The story shows the ability for a book smart girl to start to develop some love smarts along the way.

Excellent Word Imagery!

I don't normally write reviews, although I do listen to a ton of Audio Books. I tend to download them to listen to when I'm driving. The author, Annette Christie, is a fantastically descriptive writer. I thoroughly enjoyed how she portrayed and developed her characters. The narrator as well as very enthusiastic, and was fun to listen to. I would highly recommend this book! It was both fun, and enjoyable.

I have to say, I also appreciated the complete lack of crude language as well, that seems so prevalent in most of what's been coming out lately. Annette also used word combinations that are very descriptive and thought provoking at times, my favourite was when she described a poor situation as a "Defecation Tsunami", i really hope that that phrase catches on. This book has a fantastic flow, and is enjoyable to listen to.
