About this listen
Displays the amazing power of generosity to transform people and communities.
When LaSalle Street Church in Chicago received an unexpected windfall, its leaders made the wild, counterintuitive decision to give $160,000 away to church members - 500 each. They were simply told to go out and do good in God's world. What happened next was amazing.
In Love Let Go listeners learn how a church community was transformed by the startling truth that money can buy happiness - so long as you spend it on others. Laura Sumner Truax and Amalya Campbell tell how this radical generosity experiment worked in their church, explore the connection of human flourishing to generosity, and offer tools to help us reclaim our giver identities and live generously - to love and let go.

Story
Stories tether us to what matters most: our families, our friends, our hearts, our planet, the wondrous mystery of life itself. Yet the stories we've been telling ourselves as a civilization are killing us: Fear is wisdom. Vanity is virtuous. Violence is peace. In Between the Listening and the Telling, author and activist Mark Yaconelli leads listeners into an enchanting meditation on the power of storytelling in our individual and collective lives. We tell stories to remember who we are. We tell stories to savor the pleasure of living.

Story
The ups and downs of the economy prove Rabbi Daniel Lapin's famous principle that the more things change, the more we need to depend upon the things that never change. There's no better source for both practical and spiritual financial wisdom than the time-tested knowledge found in the ancient Jewish faith and its culture. In the second edition of Thou Shall Prosper, Lapin offers a practical approach to creating wealth based on the established principles of ancient Jewish wisdom.

Story
In a shallow light-speed world, how can we really know and be known by another person? How do we make true friends? The Digital Age is all about change, but the need for true friendship never changes. We are designed for real engagement with others - for affirmation that goes beyond a simple "like" on social media, for connection over meals, for hope and excitement about the future. Above all, we need to be known and accepted for who we are.

Story
An increasing number of American Christians are frustrated. Even as they read their Bibles, listen to sermons, and hang out with other Christians, they become painfully aware that something is missing: joy. As a result, many have given up on their faith being a source of joy, and instead they seek meaning, purpose, and joy through their Christian service, work, relationships, hobbies, possessions, or even more destructive and hollow substitutes.

Story
Reframing your perspective can transform your life. We often face circumstances that we cannot change - a job we are forced to keep, a relationship that did not work out, a decision we cannot take back. The stress of life can overwhelm us, and we may not see past the obstacles in our path. In the face of unwanted challenges, we may despair over our lack of control and long for an easier way out. Laurie Short offers a simple but revolutionary idea: Change nothing that is around you yet still change everything about your life.

People are leaving the church J. D. Greear pastors. Big givers. Key volunteers. Some of his best leaders and friends. And that's exactly how he wants it to be. When Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission, he revealed that the key for reaching the world with the Gospel is found in sending, not gathering. Though many churches focus time and energy on attracting people and counting numbers, the real mission of the church isn't how many people you can gather.

An inspiring and amazing story
Although I found it took me a little while to get into the flow of the story, this is an inspiring account of the impact of generosity on both the recipients and the givers. In fact, it contains not just the amazing story of the church that gave away a windfall, but a myriad of interwoven tales of individual acts of selflessness and the impacts that they had.
I don’t usually get tears in my eyes while listening to audiobooks, but this one had that effect on me multiple times. If you want to be inspired by tales of real people living out the simplicity of the Gospel you need to listen to this amazing story.
