Publisher's summary
If, like many other people, you have questioned whether there is something more to Jesus church than the religious institutions we've inherited after two thousand years, you'll want to read Finding Church. Here is straight talk from a man who has sought authentic New Testament community for more than fifty years and who has discovered it in the most unlikely places. Now Wayne wants to help you find this incredible bride Jesus is shaping by looking at the church as God sees her and by recognizing her as she takes shape around you. His church is a living temple, springing up in the individual heart and then knit into a worldwide community of people whose very relationships put God s glory on display. There s no way human effort can build it or sustain it, which is why our attempts fall so woefully short. She is the fruit of a new creation of men and women who live beyond the human conventions of society and share a life in Jesus that satisfies their most ardent hunger.

Fruitfulness is part of a cycle that includes promise, hope, perseverance, struggle, and even rest and refreshment. If you don’t know how God works through various seasons in your life, you can end up unknowingly resisting him, instead of embracing him in a greater process.

Story
Jamie Winship spent nearly thirty years living and working in conflict zones, and during that time he has learned an important truth: all human conflict originates from fear, and fear originates from a false view of God, ourselves, and others. Until we exchange what's false for what's real, we will never experience being fully alive, fully human, and fully free. Living Fearless is your invitation to listen closely to what God is trying to say to you about himself, about the person he created you to be—and also about all those other people he created and loves.

Story
Why does the allegiance that radical terrorists give to their false cause exceed the allegiance that most Christians today give to Jesus Christ? In Insurgence, best-selling author Frank Viola presents a radical proposal for Christians. Namely, that we have lost the explosive, earthshaking gospel of the kingdom that Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles preached. Viola argues that we've lost this dynamic, titanic, living gospel and exchanged it for a gospel of religious duty or permissiveness and "easy believism."

Story
Our greatest need is to be recognized—to be seen, loved, and embedded in rich relationships with those around us. But for the last century, we’ve displaced that need with the ease of technology. We’ve dreamed of mastery without relationship (what the premodern world called magic) and abundance without dependence (what Jesus called Mammon). Yet even before a pandemic disrupted that quest, we felt threatened and strangely out of place: lonely, anxious, bored amid endless options, oddly disconnected amid infinite connections.

Story
In Emotionally Healthy Discipleship, best-selling author Pete Scazzero combines three decades of wisdom with hard lessons from his own ministry journey. He lays out what is required for church leaders to multiply deeply changed people who are growing in relationship with God, themselves, and others. Scazzero begins with four beneath-the-surface, systemic gaps that undermine serious discipleship. He provides a clear vision for a church culture that deeply changes lives and then practically unpacks the seven biblical marks of emotionally healthy discipleship.

Where is the life God promised us? Life is busy. We live like slaves to our fast-paced, suffocating schedules. We spend our energy and time in triviality, relegating God to the background. He seems distant to us, and we resist the idea that God wants to give, say, and show us more; we dismiss it as rumor. But Jesus calls us to a better way. Another dream - an unimagined future. Close the gap between what you hear about and what you see.

Amazing! This Book Says What I’ve Been Feeling!
If you’ve been wondering if there is more to Jesus’ plan than sitting in a pew once a week, you should check out this book. The author has gone through a journey of discovery and encourages us to do the same.
If the very thought that religion is not the best we can do offends you, then maybe this book is not for you.
I recommend it very highly and I hope you’ll give it a chance.

Wow !!
We are the Church !! Hear this Saints !! This is really good news ! I think a lot of people will recognize aspects of what the author is pointing to as already happening in and to them and this book will confirm what God has been speaking to us and help us see ideas and practices that are restricting are fellowship and unity in Him our Lord.

Wayne Shares From His Heart How We Can Find Church
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to find a healthy church family without all of the extra religious baggage!
Who was your favorite character and why?
The "characters" in this "story" are everyone as they learn to live in a real relationship with Jesus Christ in learning how to find Church in relationships based on love, not in institutions based on religious performance and obligation.
What about Wayne Jacobsen’s performance did you like?
Listening to Wayne read this book feels like sitting down with him and listening to him share from his heart what he's learned on his own journey.
Any additional comments?
After spending most of my life going to church and learning how to do church with all of the various methods and models, hearing from Wayne is like a breath of fresh air and very freeing in helping me to understand how we can all find Church through real relationships based on mutual love for Jesus Christ and one another.

NOT ABOUT "CHURCH-BASHING
Would you listen to Finding Church again? Why?
Yes, and I am! I even ordered a hard copy of the book so I could find Wayne's insights and highlight them but I soon found my highlighter running dry! I especially appreciate that he doesn't "bash" the church or religion. This author presents ideas for you to consider -- leaving you to make your own decisions about his findings.
What other book might you compare Finding Church to and why?
So You Don't Want To Go To Church Anymore
Which character – as performed by Wayne Jacobsen – was your favorite?
Wayne himself (and John in the book, So You Don't Want To Go To Church Anymore)
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Wayne's own subtitle "What if there really is something more?"
Any additional comments?
Church-goers, please don't let the titles keep you from reading. These books are NOT about "church bashing." Quite the contrary!

Life Changing
They say there are (2) things that can change a person's life, the people they meet or the books they read. Through Wayne Jacobsen's testimony, teaching, and narration, I have had an encounter, and I suspect will bring noticable change, I will expect my life in Jesus and His glorious body, the church, to take on a new dimension, a new peace, a new power, a new creation.

Searching for a city whose builder is God
Having spent over thirty years in professional ministry I have been both victim and perpetrator of many scenarios painted in this book. I’ve recently retired and enjoying the freedom from institutional Christianity. I appreciate Wayne’s perspective. It’s not mean spirited as some may think. Nor is he a heretic. Like Abraham and many others including myself we are looking for a city ( church) whose builder is God. Don’t give up. The kingdom of God is all around you.

Just what I needed
I have been struggling to find the right church for years and finally about 6 months ago I just gave up. I just decided to try to follow God and let Him lead me to people to connect with. Well I was starting to get discourage. Maybe I'm the only one. Maybe I'm crazy but I read this book right on time. Church does not have to be confined to the box we try to fit it in. It's so much more than that!

Genuine and finally something that expresses the thoughts I’ve had
I appreciate the way Jacobsen doesn’t pretend to have the final answer with 9 steps to creating the Best Church Ever. For a long time something has been growing in my heart, wanting more than I was getting at any “local church” I attended or worked at. I was scared to leave the system bc of the stigmas that followed those that did. I finally jumped. It hasn’t been super easy, but it has been fulfilling and healing. This book put words to so many thoughts and feelings I thought I was alone in having. He does it gently but honestly and God has used it greatly as I’ve walked this journey. Church is more a verb than a noun, and I feel more free to church wherever I am - at home, at Target, at work - by living my life in relationship with Jesus and that hopefully inviting others into that relationship, rather than inviting them to a meeting. If this is something your spirit has yearned for, I can’t highly recommend this book enough.

exceptional book on the church
I have been blessed by Wayne's writings for over 10 years being challenged by his wisdom. This amazing book brings more of the same. Getting clear on the church and understanding it is Jesus' job and responsibility to build what He wants to build is liberating. It looses us to believe and draw deeper into his heart.
on the performance, I always like to hear the author read their own book. This was professionally done and made for easy listening.
