About this listen

Against all odds, Adirah Messa has been accepted to Billet University, a prestigious institution founded in the 1800s for people of color. Determined to excel, she arrives at the university intent on minimizing distraction and focusing on her studies. That goal is soon interrupted when she is noticed by members of the "in" crowd, who invite her to the most popular frat party on campus.

Adirah finds herself smitten with someone of another race and is taken on a ride she can never return from. Unbeknownst to her, Adirah's newfound love is not only a master seducer; he is also one of the most powerful figures in the underworld of Vampirism. Tangled up in a web of love, Adirah becomes involved in her lover's lifestyle in more ways than one.

Before she knows it, Adirah becomes Queen to his tribe. Is she prepared to accept all the responsibility that entails? When a rival clan targets Adirah and her identity is exposed, she must make some quick and serious decisions. Will she react in time, or is it already too late?

Well I am a twilight fan. This was nothing like twilight. It was a good vampire book. I did like how protective he was with adere. Her roommate was a nut, she was funny. Overall I think it was okay. I will buy book two.

My sexy vampire

Now the story definitely pulls you in, the writing is just just booboo . Goes back & forth between present & the past with our full acknowledgement (so keep up) & the ending … sis the ending … I’m mad lol.

It was okayy

The story is overly cliche. The narrators did do well trying to sell the story.

Some of the reactions weren't realistic. And some of the narration didn't match the tone or the action at that moment. It wasn't terrible, but wasn't the best either.

Inconsistent and a bit overly dramatic

pretty good little read

Urban vampires with a history rooted in slavery, that’s a twist in itself. Wishing the historic portion of this tale were flushed out in more details. The characters jump to life nonetheless and draws you in quickly.

Surprisingly Awesome

This is the best black vampire story ever

Okay so I’m not a big fan of black stories that HAVE to revolve around RACISM AND SLAVERY especially if they are romances. I find it very hard to go along with the pro black character stereotype while interesting it was weird to have a romance forming around two clans having a race war. Also didn’t even realize the FML was black because of the cover for this audiobook doesn’t you a Kenyan women looks like a white women with a weird grey filter to look black and her straight black hair doesn’t help when the description in book says she wears her natural hair under her head wraps etc. the second book cover didn’t make it better.
Seems like in this word the vampires are the usual kill their prey type. What ever that’s fine but the male needs want in his Queen was confusing like he wanted a girl to fall for his charms than gets annoyed when the FML shows very little interest or annoyed by him.
Also the time line is very jumbled with the past, present and back to the past thing. You get lost and than you realize these characters are standing around or sitting in the middle of conversations spacing out in a daze which would be weird.
The instalove at chapter 7 made me pause to write this review because in the span of I guess a few days after she nearly died in a fire... she wakes up healed and and go from scared he assaulted her to letting him take her clothes off and take her. Which is confusing because she spent 5 chapters wanting to avoid him and show she was attracted but not ready to drop her panties.
I’ll probably end up finishing to just to complete the story this is just a warning if you don’t wanna start a story and be disappointed.

Meh
