About this listen

A War is Brewing. Kennedy is one of the last known Druids. Wanted dead by the Seelie Queen and as a coveted asset to defeat this cruel ruler, Kennedy has become a mark. Especially by a sexy, merciless Dark Dweller, Lorcan Dragen. Kidnapped and taken prisoner, Kennedy's life takes a dramatic turn down a path she never imagined. Spending time with a man who killed her best friend's mother and her friend, she knows he is not someone she should care about. But the longer she spends with her enemy, the more her feelings blur the line between what is right and wrong, what is true and what is not. As her magic grows, so does the shy, nerdy girl, and she soon realizes nothing on a list or in a book will prepare her for what is ahead. Even her own feelings.©2017 Stacey Marie Brown (P)2017 Stacey Marie Brown Fantasy Fiction Paranormal Urban City

Not my favorite narrator.

Liked the story. I did not like it as well as the Collector series. Also, I should have read the Darkness series first. I was a little lost in the beginning. The audio seemed off. It sounded almost like it had been sped up. I even slowed down the playback a little. That made it a little easier to listen to. But still not my favorite narrator.

Must listen to Darkness & Collector series first

*IMO: You must read the 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 and 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 series before starting this one*

This book follows the same time period as 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, but follows characters who were separated from the main group for much of that time, and came back to the group *different*.

When I started reading and realized this book would be about Kennedy and her time away with Lorcan, I was instantly pulled in. There is so much mystery during the 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 series about what went on between those two, and I knew it had to have been good. If you love some romantic/sexual/slow burn tension you will love what you get from Kennedy and Lorcan.

Kennedy grows so much during this book, from the virginal, sexually-repressed, innocent girl, to a full on druid coming into her own.

Kennedy’s story fills in so much detail that I didn’t even know was missing during the 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 series, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

What this book is giving:
✅ Forced proximity
✅ Enemies to Lovers
✅ Slow Burn
✅ Young, sexually repressed virgin FMC
✅ Touch her and die

Look out for:
⚠️ Cheating (mostly emotional, but some physical)

Rating:
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ / 5
🌶️ 🌶️ ½ / 5

Kennedy’s POV of Blood Beyond Darkness

I didn’t realize that this book would be pretty much a retelling of the last book in the darkness series, I mean yes I know it was from Kennedy’s POV but so much of it we had already gone through. It was nice hearing her POV on some parts but wasn’t necessary on the whole story. I feel like this could’ve been a novella and just covering some of the main things we wanted to learn and hear from her POV. I did like seeing a different side to Lorcan, shocked to find out what really happened with him and WEST and the Queen, my review from book 4 of the darkness saga about Lorcan was completely off base after reading this book. I hate how Kennedy treated Lorcan in the end. I liked hearing what happened during the coronation, very interested in what is to come. I’m more excited for the books that are coming up because they’ll be all new and different.

Decent but slow. Poor narration

Good story building but started off slow. Narrator sounds very immature making it difficult to see it as anything other that YA

Good book lousy narrator

The story was at least 4 stars but the narrator doesn’t even deserve 1 star. She sounds like a 10 year old and when it comes to the sex scene it’s disgusting to hear a little child’s voice having sex with an older man. I could barely get to the end of the story. If the next book is the same narrator I will not wast a credit or any money on it and I would not recommend this book to anyone which is to bad because the story is pretty good in itself.

The narrator ruined this for me.

If I had more time I would have just read this instead of listening. I already bought the next book in the series to listen to but I may just call it a loss since it is the same narrator. She is so SQUEAKY and very juvenile. Horrible. And she can not do a males voice at all.

good but not great

guilty pleasure to listen to, but the main character gets really annoying in the end and some things just aren't explained. it was heavy romance, and it seemed like everything else was happening around that, so idk where the second one will lead, probs not get it tho. not interested enough to want to continue the series.
