About this listen

Marion Watt is set to embark on her first London Season, and her parents have spared no expense to help her secure a suitable husband. Unlike most of the social-climbing young women in her position, Marion has no desire to marry hastily or for anything less than love. But when she learns of her mother’s declining health, she knows she must keep an open mind and allow herself to be courted. What she does not anticipate, however, is that the attentions of the insufferable Lord William Everton will be placed squarely on her. He might be the most sought-after bachelor of the Season, but she sees in him nothing but a frivolous cad.

Until William inherits his father’s title and seat in parliament, he must rely on his own devices to change the world. Dressing like a ridiculous dandy serves its purposes, but he is certain his newest disguise will help him find a wife to please his parents and further his own agenda. From among the glittering group of debutantes, William finds only one woman who passes his test. Unfortunately, the perfect choice is the only woman in all of London who despises him.

The performance wasn't so good! I liked the story though. It was good and I liked the story.

The story was good!

I was hesitant to listen after I read bad reviews about the narrator and heard the snippet, but this book and narrator were great and such a sweet story. I think all narrators take a few chapters to get in a grove and the sample is from the first few lines of the book.

I enjoyed the characters and their romance.

Don’t let the bad review about the narrator scare you off

The story had a boring start. It became more intriguing and action more involved.

Intriguing Adventures

This narrator has the unique ability of making all the characters come to life. She can change her voice like no other which makes listening such a treat.

I will always listen to Luone Ingram

Love the regency romances in general. Loved this story, Loved these characters. Hated the narrator's singing.

Clean secular romance

I’ll never know if there was a good story hidden in there or not. The simpering voice of the narrator had me turning tail before the first chapter was finished.

Couldn’t get past the narration

Sounded as if narrator was in a tunnel and just loudly relating story. No acting.

Disliked narrators voice.

Were all of the British narrators busy? This narrator has an annoying, mannered American voice totally unsuitable for this book. A good narrator might have saved this book, but not this one.

Awful narrator, bland story

This story had so much potential. It just seemed like the author was in a rush. Very unfulfilling read.

worst I've read

The narrator I have heard before and I think she does a fine job! She does take some getting used to but I enjoy listening to her.

This story however I did not care for. I thought the heroine was extremely annoying. One second she is so shy and timid and the next she is acting like a child and being revengeful dyeing his clothes black without proper provocation. I didn’t think there was much chemistry between them and the overall plot of the story was uninteresting and scattered. I usually love regency romance but this was definitely towards the bottom of my list. I could barely finish it.

Disappointed
