About this listen

Hannah Kent and Oliver Jennings pledged their hearts to each other as children. Now, years later, Hannah is thrilled to receive an invitation to spend the summer at Oliver’s family’s country estate. The path to wedded bliss is clear - so long as Oliver’s highbrow older brother, Damon, has ceased his juvenile antics, Hannah’s future looks bright indeed.

But from the moment Hannah arrives at Summerhaven, nothing is as she expected. Oliver seems disinterested in renewing their acquaintance, and Damon is not the brutish boy she remembers but a man intent on avoiding marriage. Although she has loathed Damon her whole life, when he contrives a ruse designed to win them both what they desire, Hannah warily agrees. All she has to do to reclaim Oliver’s attention is pretend to be madly in love with Damon. But when Damon is surprisingly convincing in his role as a suitor, it proves difficult to discern the line between pretense and true love.

An Excellent Book To *Sigh* Over!

I know I will read this story again and again. It has all of the makings of the perfect romance with characters the reader wants to know. This romantic tale takes Hannah Kent back to Summerhaven, a place she spent her childhood summers with the Jennings brothers. She remembers Damon as the older brother who cut her hair and teased her mercilessly. Hannah and Oliver made a childhood promise to wed when they got older. But, Oliver has also changed. Hannah tries to rediscover the childhood Oliver she remembers in this somewhat adult version of him…

This is my first audiobook by Noah Wall and I find her an exceptional listen. She narrates this story with ease. Her portrayal of the Jennings brothers is stellar, in that she captures their differences well and brings their story to life.

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language.

Best I've read in a while

Perfect length. A sweet story was just what I needed. I really enjoyed the
characters. The author's writing reminds me a bit of Julianne Donaldson, which is a compliment I think! had some fun unexpected surprises which I appreciated.

The main character is hard to grow in me.

The performance lacked the range between female and male characters. And the female character is a bit childish, pretentious, and couldn’t keep a secrete then kept too much secret towards to the end. The supporting male character whined too much, but at the end made a sudden change.

New author for me

I decided to go with a recommended book based on my past purchases. This book came up, so I got it and started listening to it. It did start off a bit slow, but not in a bad way. There is a picture being painted so we can understand, the rest of the book later.
It is a historical romance, this was a fairytale romance, the kind of story where love always wins. It is a love triangle, and everybody is just wishy-washy. I can’t make up their minds, and that was pretty much the binding theme that kept the book together. This was a very mellow book. There is no romantic scenes., just romantic moments. It is different than what I normally read. But all the lovey-dovey mushy wushy stuff got a bit overwhelming. But I got through it!
Off to find my next great story!!!
