About this listen

College athlete Lily Brennon has always been the piece that doesn't quite fit in the puzzle, especially in her blended family, and no amount of rule-following perfection seems to bring her any closer to the love and acceptance she desperately seeks. If not for Jackson Carter, her childhood best friend and the only boy she's ever loved, she's sure she would have run away years ago. But when Jackson loses his father and a future basketball career within months of each other, his faith is so shattered, he shuts out everyone, including Lily.

After months of heartache, Lily begins to piece together a life without Jackson, and while vacationing at the beach on a beautiful island off the Georgia coast, she begins a long-distance romance with Alex Walker, a police officer with a quick wit and a cocky grin. He revives her hope in love again, but their intense attraction and his devastating secret test Lily's commitment to save herself for marriage. Through her struggles to remain true to her principles, an agonizing choice between Alex and Jackson, and a series of terrifying events that threaten all of them, Lily must endure losing everything she's been grasping so tightly. Only then will she discover the depth of the love that already surrounds her.

I Thoroughly Enjoyed this Book!!

I felt a plethora of emotions while listening to this book. Common questions such as: "how!? Why!? Come on, for real!?!?!" Oh and there were some "duhs" thrown in there as well. However, in the end, I marvel at how this could easily be anyone's story if we don't allow God to lead in our lives.

The plot was thorough and complete. The characters developed in intriguing ways from start to finish. There were times I was annoyed at them, sad with them, scared for them, and laughing at/with them. What a roller-coaster! Lol

Wonderful novel that I recommend to anyone! It's real and tasteful. The narration was fine. The improvements I would recommend is for there to be clearer differences between minor characters. The only thing I wish for the story is for it to have continued a bit longer. 😊

Okay narration; story took a wrong turn

Although her higher pitched characters sound a little annoying, the female narrator's Chloe sounds like Daffy Duck's girlfriend in the 1953 Warner Brothers cartoon "Muscle Tussle". It brought back pleasant memories.
I wish each narrator only did their genders' voices, kind like a radio show. The male narrators make very little difference between male and female character voices.
I thought no meant no. That guy should have respected that. I did not like Chapter 19.
I understand we all need forgiveness in the real world, but this is not the type of fiction I wanted to read.

Not a believable story.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The character of Lilly is very trite and not believable of someone who has the convictions that she 'says' she had, nor the intelligence.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Make it more believable and not so trite. Change the character of Lilly to a believable character, like giving her a backbone.

What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?

This was terrible, the character, Lilly has a sickening sultry voice that is not in character to what I believe the author would have written. It was probably one of the worst narrative performances I've ever listened to.

Did Love's Providence inspire you to do anything?

Yes, to return the book. I expect more than this delivered.

Story OK . . . Narration terrible

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I listened all the way through because I didn't have another book downloaded. I almost stopped several times, especially at the beginning because the narration was terrible. . . high squeaky voices, awful imitation of southern accent

Any additional comments?

Get a different set of narrators and it would probably totally change my view of the bookl.

Disappointed with ending

There are no spoilers here because I don’t plan to give anything away.
I love the hard questions asked about God and why bad stuff happens to good people.
I’ll just say the book had me on the edge of my seat until the ending. I was flabbergasted to say the least and didn’t care for the ending.
However, I did love the multiple narrators

Narrators Make or Break

Having three narrators hurt the book. The plot is good. The characters struggling through real life problems are engaging. The love triangle is believable and kept me reading. But one narrator made me want to turn the audio book off totally. The shrill high female voice really irritated me. Even with two it was difficult to keep the characters straight because the voice was so different . If you can get past that problem, you'll enjoy Love's Providence.

Awful Narraration Hurts Good Story

Female narrator makes this book very difficult to listen to. Story was good though. This might be one that's better to read than listen to.
