Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-sellers Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott comes the heart wrenchingly beautiful story of Nikki and Zack.

Two stories so deeply intertwined, you'll think you know how they intersect.... but you'll be wrong.....

Zack Martin

The day I met Emily Bennett my whole world changed. Sure, we were just kids, but I was old enough to know my life would never be the same. She was my best friend. My destiny. My fate. I wasn't wrong... I just didn't know how twisted fate could be.

Nikki Fallon

After the death of my mother, moving from my dark and dreary trailer park to sunny California, I was focused on one thing - finding a sister I'd only just learned existed. Falling in love with him wasn't part of the plan. But he filled a void I never knew was possible to fill. He had to be my fate. My destiny. Until the day I finally found out who my sister was... and how twisted fate could be.

Left Behind

A young adult story of self discovery, learning about family and love. It’s dealing with grief and loss you never knew you had. It’s the pain of unexpected discoveries and find that love is real and you deserve it. I enjoyed this story.

The narrator was a bit slow so I sped the speed up and it was better.

Surprising book that drew me in

I always enjoy Vi’s books and wasn’t so sure about this one based on the description. Instead of many cookie cutter books I have read lately from other writers, this one had a unique plot line that sucked me in and kept me intrigued beginning to end. I enjoyed the plot twists and all of the facets that came together.

Good storyline. Poor narration.

I have listened to dozens of audiobooks but cannot remember one that was so poorly narrated. It is interesting to me that there was no correction or editing of mispronounced words. Those mistakes certainly interfered with the telling of the story.

Liked it but...

I'm a huge fan of Vi Keeland and when I saw this in the romance package I finally decided to dive in. While overall I liked it I think this may be a book better in print. It's told in dual POV and there is only one narrator. There wasn't enough distinction for me between the heroines voice and the heroes.

Great story, poorly performed

Not a totally unfortunate performance but there are so many strange pauses that it changes the tone of the story at times and meaning of the characters view. And then, the flow seems normal... I found it annoying but stuck with it because the story was so sweet.

Innocent

This is the first review I've written. This book takes you on a very emotional journey. It's not as hard to figure out as you may think in the beginning but it does not distract from the story. The male perspective in this story is what kept me coming back. Stop reading reviews and get this book!

Okay, but not great

Nikki has had a hard life with an ill mother and moving around a lot. When her mother passes away, she is given news that turns her world upside down.
Zack's life is rocked to the core when his long-time girlfriend and best friend is killed in a car accident the night if their biggest fight.
Their paths cross when Nikki moves in with her Aunt in Zack's town.
I had been looking forward to reading and listening to this story for quite some time but unfortunately it didn't quite hold up to my expectations. The story was enjoyable but wasn't as intriguing as I had hoped. For me, the plot was not as suspenseful as the synopsis made it to be and I was disappointed in the audiobook. The narrator was good with the female POV but the book is written from both POVs and it would have benefited from a male's voice, or at least a deeper inflection that was more believable. The recording had a few rough spots and some missed edits took me out if the story's flow too often.
All in all, it was okay but not great. I can at least mark it off my TBR list.

Great Story

I’ve listened to several books by this author and I’ve enjoyed them all. This book is different to the others I’ve listened to, but was still a very good book my only complaint was the narrator. I’m not sure why anyone would pay her to narrate their book, but it’s still worth listening to.

great story! terrible narration 😛

It was an excellent story. It was tough to listen to at times though the narrator was very monotone which made it difficult to distinguish between male and female voices.

What?

Why couldn’t Zach’s voice be narrated by a male? The same voice for all the characters had me all mixed up on who was who...especially with that many characters!
