Publisher's summary

Josie Decker has spent her whole life as an unloved and unwanted bother. Like a wild horse captured and bridled, Josie's spirit is broken. She devises a plan to start her life anew; silently biding her time, she waits for the perfect moment. When that moment arises, Josie takes the opportunity and runs freely into an uncertain future in Torey Hope.

Kyle Martin is a tattooed, pierced, bad boy with a heart of gold. Marching to the beat of his own drummer, Kyle meets his perfect match early on in life. Devastating circumstances beyond his control plunge Kyle into dark despair and suffocating blackness. In an effort to escape the blackness, Kyle accepts an offer from an old friend and moves to Torey Hope.

Josie and Kyle hit it off as close friends and kindred spirits right away. Both are harboring secrets and sadness, but the connection between them is bringing light back to their smiles, their hearts, their lives. Kyle and Josie cling to each other as they battle guilt and crushed spirits. Through it all, with a lot of help from an unexpected accomplice, Kyle and Josie come to view each other in a new light.

When the past catches up to them and causes their lives to come crashing down, will Kyle and Josie get the chance to see where their future is headed? Or will they be forced to admit they waited too long to embrace what was right in front of them the whole time? A heart-wrenching and heart-warming love story of cherishing the past while embracing the future.

This is a stand-alone novel and does not need to be heard in sequential in order. For ages 18+ due to adult language and situations.

emotional and Amazing

Loving Josie is aTorey Hope Novel by A.D. Ellis and it had me feeling the heavy feels. There were some scenes here that brought on the tears and sniffles. Josie and Kyle's journeys separately and together touched me and I fell in love with these two characters and the supporting characters, as well.

☆☆☆☆☆Diane Lehman narrates this story. Fantastic voicework and good recording, the story came to life. Great performance.

ghostly

Kyle and Josie had my empathy from the outset, and it increased as the story played out. I liked how the friendship started and grew. I cringe to think someone is so vile as to do the things Josie's ex did, but... A whirlwind of emotions throughout, but a hea ending. The narrator was good. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.

Sweet story

There were a few technical problems early on (like sounding like a tunnel and some volume inconsistencies) but those were corrected after the first few chapters. The backstory for Josie was a little unbelievable and made her seem too immature and not terribly sympathetic. There was some angst but not too much and the love story was sweet. I wasn’t a fan of the “paranormal” part of the story, seemed a little forced and too convenient. The HEA was nice though. The narrator did a nice job with both the male and female voices except for Isabelle who sounded like a child. Overall an easy listen.

A great love story

Loving Josie was a great love story. I just wish we could have been along with the ride to discovery. Both Josie and Kyle are likable characters with interesting back stories. I think the friends to lovers story could have been more compelling with more active situations, less paranormal dialogue and more developed secondary characters, especially Jeremiah and Uncle Rob.

Still the words they share are romantic and lovely; exactly what any girl would want to hear from her not, tatooed, motorcycling punk boy. I enjoyed the story and especially the happy ending.

I thought Diane Lehman's narration was excellent and her character portrayals were well done .

The strength of Josie

This is a wonderful story that takes us on a journey with Josie. With parents that never wanted her and an awful first husband Josie finds loving family and friends in Torey Hope, she finds her happiness and future. She even finds a friend and help beyond the grave. Have tissues handy as you may need them a few times.
Narrator Diane Lehman does a fabulous job.

Two broke hearts brought together!

The author and narrator are new to me so I never know what to expect. What I got was a heart warming story of two people trying to overcome devastating pasts. From birth on Josie was never shown any love. Kyle has been unable to move forward from a heart breaking loss. Both end up moving to Torey Hope to try to move on. This book steals your heart from the beginning. Make sure you have tissues to wipe away your tears at the beginning! This will be an emotional book to listen to, but it is also very heart warming and uplifting. The friendships they develop in this town will give them love and hope. They will also have a very unexpected loving guide. There is also an enemy that will threaten them.

The narrator did a wonderful job of conveying the sadness as well as the joy these characters go through on their journey. I received this Audible book and volunteered to review it. I highly recommend it so you too can fall in love with Kyle, Josie, their family and friends.

Cute story

I was surprised I couldn’t enjoy this story. I completed it but it was really hard. The story at the beginning was great and I could see a future but it went a different direction after the two met. The narration was to soft spoken for me to keep me focused. Appreciate the author letting me hear this . I think of the narration was done by someone different I might have enjoyed it more

Slow And Boring

The beginning of this book had potential. I knew I was going to have an issue with the narrator, but was hoping I could get past her awful delivery to see how the story would unfold. No such luck. It was a lot of nothing, read by a woman whose male voice was not much different than her female voice. It was, for me, a very BLAH story, (for lack of a better word). I’d skip this one. No need to waste that credit.
