About this listen

From the author of the best-selling Twisted series comes a compelling story of heartbreak, sacrifice, and the test of true love.

I fell in love with Thomas Wells and knew he was my forever. I was 16 when I gave him my heart. Our love was the kind to last a lifetime. But Thomas was broken.

The first day we met he told me he was going to become a Navy SEAL. At 19 he enlisted. At 20 he married me. At 25 he left me pregnant and didn't turn back.

I knew he was suffering.... I also knew I couldn't save him.

He left me broken. I was scared and alone. Until I met Ryder St. John, a wounded soldier....

He was lost. I was lost. Together we made sense. I fell in love again....

What Ryder forgot to mention was that he held a secret so explosive that it could shatter both our worlds.

Contains mature themes.

Great story about the effects of PTSD.

Halo and Thomas fell in love when they were in high school. He always wanted to be a Seal and was upfront with her. When her parents died, he held off enlisting so he could take care of her. When they both felt she was ok, he enlisted and told her that he would always find his way back to her.
A few years later and a couple of deployments have Thomas messed up. He has lost his best friend. He doesn’t believe he deserves Halo and he sends her divorce papers. He regrets it and wants to take it back but he is on a mission, so it will have to wait.
Told in dual point of view, you know what each character is thinking and feeling, which I really like. Halo is torn up about the divorce and still holds out hope that Thomas will come back.
Ryder is a man who Halo meets at the hospital after giving birth to her son. He is great with her and the baby. This is the part that I struggled with. I don’t want to give anything away, but I find it hard to believe Halo didn’t pick up on certain things. Their relationship grows and each has concerns. He has no memory so what will happen when and if it comes back?
Emotional and heartbreaking at times. I really enjoyed Halo and Thomas’s story and would love to read more about them. I received a free audio book in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Predictable

It was seriously so predictable but still a cute and sweet story. The back and forth between past and present was kinda annoying, but i guess it was necessary for those who didn't guess the 'plot twist'. Like a lot of reviewers on kindle, i agree the story is a little unbelievable. Either the fmc and their friends are blind/deaf or oblivious. I just rolled my eyes. It's a light listen and didn’t need much concentration.
