Publisher's summary

It's hard living on the wrong side of the tracks.

Lowen Seely has a criminal record to prove it. Determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, he fights instinct and tries honesty. But hunger becomes painful, and bills are due. Forced to choose between what is right and wrong, the boy from the hood learns abiding by the rules is nearly impossible when corruption is in your blood.

Falling for an outlaw has changed everything.

Poesy Ashby is the definition of ride or die, even when it means turning her back on freedom. The girl from the suburbs gives conformity the middle finger. Bonnie and Clyde have nothing on her love story.

On the run with consequences in the rearview mirror, Lowen and Poesy accept the truth: they are the bad guys.

But can they get away with their crimes?

Suspenseful is an understatement.

Ohmygosh! This book! I freely admit I’m an angst whore, but Low takes angst to a whole new level. It is, without a doubt, the most anxiety-producing novel I’ve ever read. At one point I had to reach out and phone a friend. (Thanks, Christy, for the hand holding.)

I’ve never rooted for criminals so hard in my life, but I’ll be damned if I wasn’t behind Lowen and Poesy every step of the way. How could I not feel for a man who always tries to do the right thing, despite the crap hand life continually deals him? At least he has Poesy by his side—ever faithful, ever brave, ever loving, ever cheery. It seems like the harder they fight to stay afloat, though, the more desperate their situation becomes. Despite their circumstances, they are generous and determined.

The quality of Mary Elizabeth’s writing is exceptional, and I’m blown away by the complexity of the characters she created in Low and Poesy. This story had the power to incite such conflicting emotions within me that it stole my breath. That said, it is a tough read that may not be for everyone. It’s gritty, raw, somewhat slow in places, and honestly kind of depressing. What a rollercoaster though! I’ll definitely be reading more work by Mary Elizabeth.

Five star book, a must read!!!

This was a wonderful book from the opening paragraph until the and. The story was excellent the characters were well defined and extremely engaging. I found myself rooting for the bad guys from the very beginning. The author did a great job of making them likable and describing realistic situations that could make a life of crime appealing. In my opinion this was the quintessential perfect novel it was a fast paced active engaging with just the right amount of romance thrown in. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. Although I received this book at no charge to me for an honest review I would gladly purchase it on my own not only that but I will be actively searching for other books written by this author. This book was also greatly enhanced by the narrator who was excellent and well suited for the material.

Even Crooks Love

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

This was my first Mary Elizabeth book and I have to say that it was just an ok book for me. I did love how dedicated and true to each other Lo & Posey were. He was poor and just just trying to survive, when a poor decision to steal a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter landed him in jail for two years. Posey, coming from privilege fell in love with the landscaper and even though he was sent to prison for awhile, he love never once wavered. She knew him deep down and her love for him carried him through his sentence until he could get out on parol.

Unfortunately being an ex-con, Lo found it hard to get a decent job and help get Posey though school. They lived in a crappy apartment and had to scrape by on what little bit of food they could get. Determined to give Posey a better life, he thought back to the guy he worked with in the laundry room in prison.

Rob a bank. It would be so easy he thought. That was until one heist went Terribly wrong and now him and Posey were living a life on the run.

I liked the story, but I would liked to have just a bit more of an ending. Lol!!

The narrator did a great job! I loved when he did different voices and accents for all the different people Lo & Posey met. I got the giggles when he did the woman That they net on the bus from alabamas voice.

All in all, it was a pretty decent audiobook and story.

Audio Perfection

I loved this story as a book and I love it even more as an audio. Mary Elizabeth paints this picture where you want the bad guy to succeed and you feel emotionally broke down when things don't go their way.

Even crooks need love.

Aaron Shedlock should be narrating every single male audio out there. His voice is gruff and sexy and he is so fantastic at narration. I was sucked into the story and didn't come out until it was over.

Pick this one up, STAT.

Low

What did you love best about Low?

This book was very sad and depressing in my opinion. I never truly connected with characters. It was not a bad book, and it was performed beautifully. I just think it was not for me.

What about Aaron Shedlock’s performance did you like?

This was my first book performed by Aaron Shedlock. He did an amazing job, he has a deep gravely voice that just screams bad boy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending I always love endings, happy or not ;)

I had a hard time connecting with the characters

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I found the book sad and depressing. I know that the was the idea for the story and the story was very well written but it was just so hopeless that it made me sad.

Maybe I'm not at the spot in my life for sad books but I struggled with that aspect the most.

What about Aaron Shedlock’s performance did you like?

Aaron Shedlock did a great job at both male and female voices and his deep voice was perfect for Lowen

Any additional comments?

Lowen and Posey showed their love for each other through out the book but I never really connected with them. They struggled through the whole book financially and every time they would get somewhat ahead (which mean food in their stomachs mainly) something devastating would happen and they were struggling to live again.

Really Good Story

Any additional comments?

A different kind of love story. If your looking for a romance that's different from most romantic suspense stories this should fit the bill. Good story, unusual and entertaining.

I had no idea going in what the story was about. Different than anything else I have listened to. I think it's the first time I was rooting for the criminals. Heck I wasn't even thinking of them being criminals by the time it was over. I was just rooting for them to get away and live an HEA, but that was not to be unfortunately. At least in the conventional sense.

Low and Poesy were both great characters.

This is the first time I have listened to a book narrated by Aaron Shedlock. He did a great job. Nice deep sexy voice. Really good character voices.Of coarse great voice for the main character. Female voices were good as well. Smooth even pace. Clearly spoken. All around enjoyable.

Lowen Seely is unlike any other character!

Low by Mary Elizabeth is a unique story. It is told from the perspective of Lowen Seely. All his life Lowen has known hardship. Knowing that his father was in prison, Lowen did his best to keep from following in his father's footsteps. But sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. The consequences of his actions, may just cost him and the girl he loves everything.

Mary Elizabeth hooked me from the start and kept me wanting to know what would happen next to Lowen as he experienced his trials and tribulations. I loved her description of how Lowen experienced life. It made the characters come to life and kept them believable. She also made them memorable. She is new to me as an author and after reading this, I am sure this will not be the last I read of her work.

For those of you who like audios, Aaron Shedlock does a fantastic job narrating this story. He only enhanced Mary's work. I can't wait to listen to more from him in the future as well.

Good narration and story

The overall performance of Low was good. I enjoyed Low at first but Posey was just to hard to connect with for me. I felt like Low could have been better if Posey had maintained her optimism for them. Eventually Low lost me also I wanted better for them both.

Posey was Lowen, ride or die foreal.

Dude this book was good. It had taken me awhile to finish.

I think they would've gotten away if Posey wouldn't have walk in the bank when he was about to walk out and get shot. And then after her tail get shot she removes her ski-mask like really girl? Then he does the same thing when he sees she got shot smh. Now they're on the run, and people knows their faces."

The second time was when he took her to shoot, and they almost got caught, her tail wanting to explore and stuff that what messed them up.

The third time, was when that female thought she was going to get that reward she lucky Lowen didn't blow her head off. Lol.

As it got to the ending with his foot is on the pedal I'm like omg they're going to die:0, but then I'm like did they die? The ending had me lost, so I will assume that Lowen and Posey died. I didn't want them to do that was so sad. They were Bonnie and Clyde in this book for real. I thought it was cute that they died together. The policemen suck lol they had Lowen in their possession and still didn't get him, and all those people were standing out there to watch what will happen to them. it was crazy to even have kids out there. Very weird but I enjoy this, but it was worth reading even though it was a bit slow in the beginning.
