About this listen

Lucca was made the underboss, being what nightmares are made of.

Chloe was scarred by her past, learning too young that nightmares are real.

He has waited long enough to claim her soul, but he must take it from the devil first.

Her soul might have been better off claimed by the devil.

The only way to save her from her past is to delve into his.

The world as she knows it will come crashing down.

I'm the f--king boogieman.

I'm just a f--king freak.

My favorite in this series!

There's not a lot I can say about this book without giving away spoilers, but overall, I love the world this author built and her amazing characters. This is my favorite in this series!

The narrator does an amazing job humanizing the characters in this story. I really enjoy a narrator that can transition from character to character so seamlessly, without messing with the flow of the audio. By the inflection of this narrator's voice, you already know which character is speaking before a name is said.

Soul mates, true love, perfection and beautiful

This series just keeps getting better and better. Lucca and Chloe is my favorite couple. Their love is so powerful and it is unlike any other couples relationship in the series. Lucca and Chloe's love literally completes them. The darkness meets the light and together you get the most amazing love that completes the other half!!

Beautiful

(Spoiler warning maybe lol) This is the most beautiful book on Stockholm Syndrome ever... Smh Team Amo 😢 I imagine Lucca being irresistible, hot, and just damn amazing. But he held her hostage until she fell in love with him. The story is very well written and it was so perfectly read that my heart broke the same time Amo's did. Please please please let there be an Amo book. Even tho he won't be with Chloe I just wanna know that he has a happy ending.

Narrator just didn’t do it for me…..

Although the story was good, the narrator’s voice of Lucca was cringey bad. I didn’t like it. The story could have been better if I would have read it instead of listening to the audio. The narrator’s other voices wasn’t too bad, it’s just the one for Lucca. ::sigh:: Oh well. Just another narrator for my DND (Do Not Download).

Couldn't finish

Narrator for Lucca made him sound like an evil serial killer. I just couldn't get into it. I wanted to like Lucca but I just couldn't with that voice! Terrible

Meh

Ok, I understand human eyes can change color, but this book describes the MMC's eye color changing so quickly and so often, I was certain there was a paranormal element to this book I didn't know about. I understand the author was trying to convey flashes of emotion but there had to be a better way than describing the MMC's eyes changing from blue to green and back to blue in mere seconds. Eyes don't do that and this description took away from the story. By the third time this happened, I thought, "okay, maybe he's a shifter? Alien? If he was a vampire, it would probably be black or red. I don't remember the description mentioning this is a paranormal or fantasy book..." So yeah, I was confused at the beginning.
Overall, this book was choppy and disjointed. It didn't flow well and I didn't feel like the romance developed well, as a result. When the main characters finally kissed, it didn't feel as momentous as it should have and their first sex scene fell flat. For a FMC who couldn't tolerate being touched, I was expecting much more emotion from both the FMC and MMC.
I liked Amo and wasn't sure if I should be rooting for him or Lucca. While I expect to be torn while watching a drama on TV featuring a love triangle, I do NOT expect to be torn while reading a romance novel. Even if the third person is a wonderful character, the romance book should still make it obvious who the "right" choice is and this book didn't accomplish that. I noticed while reading other reviews that I wasn't the only one who felt this way.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I'm not sure if this author's style just isn't for me or if this book just wasn't for me, but I plan to read more in this series. I was intrigued by a few of the side characters in this book enough to check out their books.
Overall, I give this one a 2.25.
