About this listen

Ann Rutherford's and Rhonda DelMonte Grayson's lives continue to be full of surprises as they run The Beach House Hotel, their small upscale hotel on the Gulf Coast in Southwest Florida. Things heat up when Tina Marks (Valentina Marquis, a famous young movie star) is sent to the hotel in secret to lose 25 pounds in eight weeks for her next starring role. As much as Ann and Rhonda want to help Tina succeed, the hotel is known for its delicious food as well as its promise of anonymity, and Tina is impossible to deal with. Then, when Rhonda is faced with a "mysterious illness", Ann's role becomes even more stressful as she tries to find time for her fiancé, Vaughn Sanders, the star of a television soap opera, who deserves the attention she can't give him. As Ann discovers, life is about choices, and she's determined to make the best ones she can to keep Vaughn in her life.

A Great Beach Read!

What did you like best about this story?

If you like Debbie Macomber's story style with layers of relationships, layers of romance - sometimes unexpected, and feeling like you are really visiting a new location, then you will love the Beach House Hotel series. I have read both Breakfast (print) and Lunch at the Beach House Hotel (audio) and enjoyed watching the friendships and romantic relationships of these women continue to build over the two books. I see strong potential for the next book to wrap up some tantalizing loose ends.

What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?

The character Rhonda is a Jersey Girl and the reader, Angela Dawe, did an excellent job of giving Rhonda so much personality that she was on the verge of stealing every scene she was in - despite the fact that the narrative is never in Rhonda's point of view. Dawe provided a well balanced, articulate, excellent reading. (I 'read' a lot of audio books.)

If you enjoyed Breakfast you'll love Lunch at the Beach House Hotel!

This is a great series. I have enjoyed these books so much. I have read
them as well as listened to them by audiobook, it really brings the characters to life in a different way. Rhonda Delmonte and Ann Rutherford have become great friends. They continue to have challenges in their hotel, but no matter what comes their way they work it out. Tina Marks comes to stay at their hotel so she can lose weight
before her next movie. The hotel has a wonderful chef, the food is great
so she does not want to be very cooperative. No matter how horribly
she acts Ann and Rhonda continue to try to help her. Rhonda becomes
ill and has to figure out what's going on, while Ann continues to work
on her challenges with Vaugh Sanders her fiancé. Angela Dawe did
a great job with the audio and the author Judith Keim has a hit
with this series. Can't wait for Dinner.

Lunch at the Beach House Hotel

What did you love best about Lunch at the Beach House Hotel?

The continuation of the story from the first audio book and how Angie and Rhonda manage difficult guests, a hurricane, and a wedding.

What did you like best about this story?

The close relationship of Angie and Rhonda with their daughters.

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, Breakfast at the Beach House Hotel. This audiobook rates as well as the previous one. I am amazed that Angela can change her voice to fit the characters in the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. But it took 2 sittings to listen to the complete book

Any additional comments?

Love the series. It took me a while to get accustomed to listening to a book instead of reading. I can't wait for the third book, Dinner at the Beach House Hotel to be released!

Excellent Series, Slow down narration to 0.9 unless you’re from “Jersey”

“Lunch at the Beach House Hotel”, Book Two of Judith Keim’s Beach House Series, is an interesting and fun series about two women and their lives as they intersect their way through the start up and success of running a classy “Beach House” Hotel. The personal lives of the owners, who are opposites in many ways, demonstrates that anything is possible through perseverance and the tight bonds of friendship and family.

Simple

Very simple, cheesy, definitely Hallmark movie material. The main character/narrator is a perfectly healthy balanced woman with perfect relationships with her daughter, best friend, and movie star boyfriend. Entertaining enough but don’t expect to gain any experience or insight from this simple story.
