About this listen

Part lawman, part tracker and part magician, the Wardens are monster-hunters - tasked with protecting the people from the various, nightmarish creatures that have invaded the world of men.

Despite his personal dislike for the job, Errol Magnus has faithfully carried out the daunting (and singularly dangerous) duties of Warden for their region in place of his missing brother Tom. Truth be told, despite his reluctance in accepting the role, there is no one better suited for it in terms of knowledge, training, and skill.

Arriving home after an extended sojourn in the Badlands, where monsters are as common as blades of grass, Errol longs for just a single day to pass that doesn't require him to put his life in danger. His desire for a respite, however, is complicated by two things: the arrival of a mysterious troupe of performers and the appearance of a bloodthirsty creature that kills its victims in a horribly gruesome fashion.

Now Errol must determine what connection - if any - exists between the troupe and the killings, as well as find a way to stop the monster before the body count goes any higher.

Solid and enjoyable entry into the series

I think I liked this book better then the first, though I did predict the big surprise in the end. I look forward to book 3 and will get it on audio, as I think Mr. Naramore did a good job.

Great & Exciting Series!

Book 2 continues from where book 1 stopped and leads the reader/listener on another exciting mission with Errol who is reluctantly doing the duties of Warden since his brother Tom is still missing. This book introduces us to a troup of odd performers as well as some new creatures for Errol to battle. The story is fast paced and the characters and world building are on point. The narrator does a wonderful job at bringing the story to life. I enjoy this Author's descriptive writing that makes me feel as if i can see the story playing out right in front of me. I look forward to more in this series and from this Author & narrator.

quickly becoming my favorite author.

The duo of Kevin Hardman and Michael Naramore are awesome together! I have enjoyed the Warden, and the Kid Sensation series a ton! They are fun and relatable without being too pushy. I think that if you are looking for something different in the miasma of dystopian YA novels out there, give Kevin a try. Now I have to tell you that I received this book without charge in exchange for an unbiased review.

Lived up to expectations

Having enjoyed the first book in this series I was very happy when this one appeared and it didn't disappoint. These books are a collection of episodes in the life of a young man working as a Warden in a time and place where mythical creatures such as Lamia and Amaroks roam the world making life difficult for poor humans going about their daily business in towns and on farms.
Each episode is complete in itself but connected by our heros increasing levels of experience and the magical items he receives in each fight. There are also ongoing story arcs throughout both books dealing with the hero's search for his lost brother and a growing romantic involvement with a local farm girl.
The characters are easy to like and interesting and the stories are exciting. There is obviously more to come in this series and a new character has been introduced to be included in the next book. I am looking forward to it.
I was given this book in return for an unbiased review and I was grateful because it was a book which I really enjoyed listening to.

4/5 Stars

Summary:
Errol’s still deep into the job of semi-deputy Warden. He’s around to fight off monsters, in whatever form they arrive.

Additional Comments:
- The story picks right up where the last one ended.
- A lot of the world-building went into the first story, so I’m guessing you should start there, even though these are essentially mini-mysteries. It’s still an intriguing, dangerous world.
- Not much happens with the overarching plot. Errol’s brother, Tom is still missing. I’m guessing that will be addressed at some point in the future.
- Some of the side characters kind of blurred together, especially the performers.
- The mystery’s solution comes to Errol a tad too quickly.
- The narrator has a nice voice and decent pacing. I still listen at 2x speed.
- There are some loose ends which will be addressed in future volumes no doubt.
- As with many fantasy writers, Hardman’s not afraid to kill off his share of small time characters.
- The tie-in to the new creature type wasn’t very subtle.

Conclusion:
Interesting fantasy with some lighthearted moments even if there’s still gross stuff that happens to poor Errol during the course of his Warden duties.
*I forgot to post. I wrote this ages ago.

Predictable but enjoyable!

The story was a bit predictable but still enjoyable. Mikael Naramore did a good job bringing the story to life.

Smart Supernatural Warden

I received this book for free in return for an unbiased review.

I really liked this book, and I'm going to go back and find the first book. it is really short, I don't know that it's worth a whole credit, but the world is interesting and inviting.

One con that is pretty picky. The author doesn't know the difference between venom and poison. Look it up dude, there is a difference and it's annoying when it's used incorrectly.
