About this listen

A man serves on the jury of a murder trial - for the crime that he committed.

Peter Robertson, 33, discovers his wife is cheating on him. Following her suspected boyfriend one night, he erupts into a rage, beats him, and leaves him to die...or so he thought. Soon, he discovers he has killed the wrong man - a perfect stranger.

Six months later, impaneled on a jury, he realizes the murder being tried is the one he committed. After wrestling with his conscience, he works hard to convince the jury to acquit the accused man. But the prosecution's case is strong, as the accused man had both motive and opportunity to commit the murder. As the pressure builds, Peter begins to slip up and reveal things only the murderer would know - and Christine, a pretty and intelligent alternate juror, suspects something is amiss.

As jurors one by one declare their intention to convict, Peter's conscience eats away at him, and he careens toward nervous breakdown, revealing details about the crime that had not been disclosed in court.

Lying in Judgment is a courtroom thriller about a good man's search for redemption for his tragic, fatal mistake, pitted against society's search for justice.

I think this might be a good story but the narrator ruins it. Would have been easier to continue listening with a better reader. I'm trying to finish it but its not easy.

Needs a better narrator

I know this is going to sound weird but authors should NEVER narrate their own books. This is the second time that I’ve listened to an author narrated book and the narrator ruined the story. It’s crazy because they wrote it and you would think if anyone can narrate it properly it would be the author but no that is not the case. They are like songwriters that can’t sing. Please please please do us all a favor leave the narrating to those that can narrate and you just stick to writing. This could have been an excellent story but I couldn’t even enjoy it because of the narrating. How can I say this? Because I actually got the book on my kindle first and I was reading just before bed I got to chapter six and I thought my eyes are tired but I’d like to keep going so me and my genius decided ‘buy the book on audible’ (the reader on kindle is like nails on a chalkboard for me) so I waste the money and buy it only to end up hating it. Get the book and read it yourself otherwise save your money.

Author narrators should be illegal
