Publisher's summary

Out-of-work violinist Erica Timberly decides enough is enough. She leaves her abusive boyfriend and flees the big city, but then, her car breaks down in the middle of the night.

Though wary of men, she accepts help from Dylan Haynes, a stranger driving by on the road, and soon recognizes him as the sexy former drummer of her favorite indie rock band. Maybe, just maybe, her run of bad luck is finally turning around.

Music teacher Dylan Haynes knows Erica is in trouble, and her black eye is only the first clue. The stubborn yet vulnerable woman needs a friend, but he's determined to give her everything she deserves.

Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?

A visit to Deerbourne Inn

Lyrical Embrace is another story in the Deerbourne Inn series and I was glad to get the opportunity to listen to it. The small sleepy town of Willow Springs in Vermont sounds like a lovely place to live and given I’ve lived in the big city, I’m pretty sure I would enjoy the slower pace of life. The fact everyone knows everyone else might be annoying, but in the end I think I’d enjoy knowing all my neighbors.

Dylan Haynes grew up in Willow Springs and although he ventured out into the world for a while, he’s happily come home. When he picks up Erica Timberly on the side of the road where her car has broken down, they discuss country living.

“I’ve never been to Vermont until today. I gotta tell you, I’m not impressed.”
Dylan laughed. “Wait until morning. Once you see my little town, you’ll never want to leave. I left a while back, and although I enjoyed seeing a bit of the big, bad world, there’s no place like home.”
Erica scoffed at that. She couldn’t help herself.
“You don’t agree?” Dylan slowed the vehicle as he rounded a curve.
“No, I agree. For some people, home is heaven. For me, home means yelling, fighting, and people stabbing you in the back.”
“Is that what you’re running from?”
“Running?”
He shrugged, but tension suddenly filled the air. His voice gentled. “You have a black eye, Erica. Your travel bags are stuffed to the point of bulging.”

Pretty quickly Erica’s dilemma is laid bare – she’s running and with her car out of commission, and she’s stuck in Willow Springs. Good thing she’s got a friendly neighbor to show her around. Dylan is happy to play tour guide, soon discovering he likes Erica. She’s guarded, to be sure, but there’s also a spark he’s drawn to. When she discovers his true identity, she’s intrigued, not gobsmacked. He likes that because he doesn’t like to be reminded of where he’s come from. They are both musicians and their love of music draws them even closer together. In the end, though, it’s Erica’s past that catches up with her and she needs to draw on Dylan’s strength – physical and emotional.

The book is a romance so there is a happy ending, but man did Erica and Dylan have to go through a lot to get there. I enjoyed the story and am glad I listened to it. Georgia Allens narrated the book and she did a great job. She’s a new-to-me narrator and I definitely will listen to more of her books. This Daulton/Allens find was a good one.

Enjoyed it!

Good storyline and great characters. I think this is my first Amber Daulton audiobook. I'll have to see what else she has written. Georgia Allens did a very good job with the narration. I think the story would have 'popped' a little better with a male and female narrator. But overall I really enjoyed this!

Sweet Romance

This is my first experience reading something by this author and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author. It's a sweet, romantic story with a bit of suspense added in. Erica and Dylan had great chemistry right from the start and I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. Despite their sweet, budding relationship,  there are demons from Erica's past that she must face before she can truly move forward with Dylan. The storyline was well-written and the plot twists kept me listening. The narrator did a nice job of bringing the story to life. I would definitely love to read/listen to more books by this author.

Great Read

Lyrical Embrace (Deerbourne Inn) was a great read by Amber Daulton. Erica is an out-of-work violinist who has decided to leave her abusive boyfriend. On her way out of the big city, her car breaks down in the middle of the night. She accepts help from Dylan, who stopped to help her. She soon recognizes his as the drummer of her favorite band. Dylan is now a music teacher who knows that Erica is in a lot of trouble. He knows that she is running from something because of the black eye that she has. I really enjoyed reading Erica and Dylan’s story and I can’t wait to read more by the author.

Enjoyed this book.

Enjoyed this book. Erica Timberly flees her abusive boyfriend, in search of a fresh start. During her exodus, her car breaks down in the middle of the night; Dylan Haynes, former indie rock band drummer, stops to lend her a hand. This meeting just may be the beginning of a new song for the both of them...if they can truly escape the ex-boyfriend and Erica can learn to trust again. Great narration.

Good story

I was given a copy of this audio book for an honest review. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It is well written by Amber Daulton & narrated beautifully by Georgia Allens. Captivating from the first page. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop.
