About this listen

Detective Kelley Petrova’s life has been filled with one major challenge after another. The one constant in her adult life has been her career and the ability to make a difference. Having a capable and dedicated partner like Reese McBride, who also doesn’t happen to be one bit hard on the eyes, only makes her job easier and more worthwhile.

Detective Reese McBride knows his partner of two years is tough, smart, and determined. After Kelley is injured on the job, Reese can’t keep his partner down, and soon, they’re chasing after more than just a man and the girl he’s kidnapped. Drugs and a human trafficking ring are exposed, and soon, Kelley and Reese are running out of time.

The love that has developed between Kelley and Reese grows stronger with each day, before they are brutally torn apart. Reese must not only find and rescue the little girl, but he must save Kelley before the kidnappers sweep her across the Mexican border.

Loved it!

What an action packed story and I mean in more ways than one. David Quimby is a great narrator. His voice is so wonderful, I can get right into the mood of all the characters!

entertaining

I found this story to be refreshing and different. Just enough heat with an interesting storyline. I loved the cop duo and Belle was a great touch to the story. I Iiked seeing the softer more vulnerable side of the male because it made him more relatable. I liked the integrity of both main characters. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Not a cowboy story

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I was given a chance to receive a free audio book so I decided to check out a new to me author. I was expecting this to be a cowboy story somewhat from the cover but it isn’t. Also I think it would have helped had I already read the previous in the series. It is a good story. Kelley has a strong personality. It comes across when she doesn’t let injury nor being kidnapped stop her. Her partner Reese also is a strong personality except where Kelley is concerned. Their relationship moves into more than partners. While trying to stop Rocha, a trafficker, from selling Belle, Kelley is kidnapped and beat up. This story is full of action. The end leaves open a whole different direction for the couple. The Narrator, David Quimby, does a great job bringing the story to life. Now I have to go back and read the previous stories.

Magnificent story!

This is definitely a fantastic story! I love Cheyenne McCray books, she has a fabulous way of telling a story that sucks you in from the beginning. This story has action, intrigue, suspense, mystery, murder and romance. I definitely recommend this audiobook.
The narrator does a fantastic job with the characters and voices of each character which makes it easy to distinguish between the characters and voices of each character. David does an amazing job with both male and female voices. I love listening to him tell a story.

Fantastic Audible Book!

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. Cheyenne McCray sure knows how to write a book containing mystery, intrigue, action, suspense, murder, kidnappings, human trafficking, strong characters, the extremely despicable villains, and hot love scenes. Both Reese and Kelly are strong characters that are determined to solve their cases. In this story both will fight through pain and anguish. This story contains many twists and turns and on the edge of your seat moments. I love how these two find themselves growing closer together.

David Quimby is a very talented narrator. He makes you feel the emotions of these characters and gives them distinctive voices. I found him to be a pleasure to listen to. I highly recommend this Audible book. The author and narrator will hold your attention throughout the entire story.

Powerful story

I listened to the audiobook of this and was drawn into the story. However, I think I missed a book, because I don't remember Reese losing two of his fingers. I like how the book did not center around his disability. He was a fully capable officer and man, including shooting a gun, making dinner and caressing a woman.

I thought the main plot of the story was going to be drugs, but it ended up being so much more. Kidnapping women to sell them. And female children too. It was such a real story, but disgusting to see what the criminals can get away with.

Since the story ends with a quickie marriage and adoption, I'm curious how this ready made family deals with everything that transpired during the book. Do they go to counseling? Do they have a strong support system that they rely on? I feel like this part of the story just abruptly ended and I want to know how everyone is doing after the fact.

David Quimby is a nice narrator to listen to. He has a smooth voice and makes you feel like you are on the scene when it is happening.
