The decision to publish the book has been very difficult, and taken with heavy hearts... My reason for writing it is simple: to give an account of the truth...
Writing this memoir has entailed recording some very personal, intimate and emotional aspects of our lives. Sharing these with strangers does not come easily to me, but if I hadn't done so I would not have felt the book gave as full a picture as it is possible for me to give.
As with every action we have taken over the last four years, it ultimately boils down to whether what we are doing could help us to find Madeleine. When the answer to that question is yes, or even possibly, our family can cope with anything... nothing is more important to us than finding our little girl.
Gerry McCann says: "It is a sad fact that not a single police force anywhere is proactively looking forMadeleine (as is the case for many other missing children). I am sure this book will re-energize the search for our daughter and the public will get behind the Find Madeleine campaign once again. It is simply unacceptable that the authorities could give up on Madeleine - especially without a single review of the case having been carried out. Our daughter, and whoever took her, are out there. We need your help to find them."

What made the experience of listening to Madeleine the most enjoyable?
Kate McCann telling the true storyWhat was one of the most memorable moments of Madeleine?
Her outgoing personality and the caring of her siblings.Did Kate McCann (introduction) and Lesley Sharp do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes, they did and it was possible to remember who was in their group of friends and to separate from the family members. How this was dealt with and repeated, you felt that you actually knew the people that were caring for Kate and Gerry McCann.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me feel very sad at times especially how the police did not seem to care or take action quickly enough following Madeleine's abduction.Any additional comments?
This book is well worth reading as you actually find out the truth of actually what happened to very loving and caring parents, which didn't always come out in the media reporting. An insight into what happened

so much time has passed that I myself have grown into a full fledged adult with children of my own one being a 3 year old almost 4 year old girl.
As a mom I struggled too wrap my mind around the horror this mom and dad wake up too every day. I can only say Kate and Gerry must be incredibly strong people.
I feel awful for them and pray that Madeleine is found alive and well soon.
It was informative and fact based. I would highly recommend reading it could probably even change the minds of people who wrongly accuse these parents I believe.
heart wrenching

Would you listen to Madeleine again? Why?
Yes. Kate McCann's tale is compelling as it is tragic, and the narration is wonderful. Like another reviewer stated, it might have been better if Kate had read the book herself (she did read the foreward), but perhaps this was not possible for a number of reasons. What was one of the most memorable moments of Madeleine?
There are many touching moments with the children, and of course the disappearance of Madeleine was very tragic and distressing to read about.Any additional comments?
This book is a tragic, well-told chronicle of the events leading up to and after the disappearance of this little girl. In parts it was hard to follow everything that was going on, but this actually fitted well and helped me to empathize with the hell that this family has gone through and will continue to go through until such point as Madeleine is found.Tragic story of a family
