About this listen
A Chronicles of Ixia Novel featuring behind-the-scenes notes from the author, exclusive to the audio edition
Beyond Ixia, the roots of magic run deep…
After the discovery of her magical abilities leads to her execution being ordered, Yelena has no choice but to flee to Sitia, her long-lost birthplace. There, she has the chance to meet the family she never knew. But Sitia is unfamiliar, and she’s treated with suspicion and even hatred by the people she thought she could trust—including her own brother.
Then Yelena is given the chance to travel to Sitia’s capital. In the Citadel, she’ll have the chance to hone her magical abilities under the tutelage of master magicians. As she learns the laws of magic, Yelena also discovers those who will do anything to break them. And when a rogue magician who targets young female victims emerges, Yelena must put her life at risk to stop him.
Will Yelena’s newfound magic save her—or will it be her downfall?

I had planned the first bit. But I was supposed to be sold to the werewolves so I could save my friend from a fate worse than death. Instead, the bloodsuckers have me and so far? It's not going great. I've been shoved into a corset and made to look like an extra on the cast of Bridgerton, all to take part in the Harvest Games....

As a boy, Elias learned the hard way what happens when you don’t heed the old tales. Nine years after his lack of superstition got his father killed, he’s grown into a young man of piety, with a deep reverence for the hallowed sea and her fickle favor. As stories of the fisherman’s son who has managed to escape the most deadly of storms spreads from port to port, his devotion to the myths and creeds has given him the reputation of the luckiest bastard to sail the Narrows.

They are feared. And they are burned. As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation - marriage. Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. What’s a broke tea witch to do when she’s about to lose her beloved café? No idea, but chugging magic mojitos and drunk-summoning the Devil was definitely the wrong call. Now, I’m stuck with the house guest from Hell—literally—and we couldn’t be more opposite: a homebody who brews healing teas and reads romance novels to her cats versus a sexy-as-sin playboy with a pitchfork tattoo on his butt and a fondness for public day-drinking. In the nude. Ergo, the pitchfork discovery.

Great Plot Flow
I feel like the plot has a very natural progression, very great at bringing in an overarching plot and continuation of plot points while also adding new ones.

Give us back the original narrator!
It’s strange how my old version disappeared from my library. Having reread it multiple times as a fan, I bought the new version. It’s not the same. What a disappointment and an unfair trick to those that paid for the original! That should still be in my library.
