About this listen

Joanne Walker has three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world from the unleashed Wild Hunt.

No worries. No pressure. Never mind the lack of sleep, the perplexing new talent for healing herself from fatal wounds, or the cryptic, talking coyote who appears in her dreams.

And if all that's not bad enough, in the three years Joanne's been a cop, she's never seen a dead body, but she's just come across her second in three days.

It's been a bitch of a week. And it isn't over yet.

Awsome Story

Love the way this story is read and the reader makes the story! She reads with so much feeling and character. You do not want to stop listening. There is not a slow moment.

Soooooo much better the second time!

I gave it 3 stars the first time due to the characters smart mouths approach and language . it didn't keep my attention . I did enjoy the 3rd and 4th book , so I gave it another try. This time I saw where the characters were going and even lol.

Narrator saved the story.

This book slugs along trying to make it interesting by throwing multiple story lines at it. The end result is confusing and boring. It has little to do with Native American Shamans, regardless of the title and more to do with obscure mythology and implausible scenarios. The narrator is quite good though.

fun quirky story line

I was a little confused because I thought it was a romance that I had selected but it was fun, quirky with enough light suspense to keep me listening.

Good book, just too much fantasy for me.

****** SPOILER ALERT ******

My tastes must run more to sci-fi than fantasy. Too easy to pull a solution out of your magic wand in a book like this. Maybe it will get better once the rules of the universe are better defined.
Also, while I usually complain about heroines being too wimpy, this one struck me as overbearing. 3 days and everyone including the police department is looking to you for guidance??!! That is over-the-top magic right there!
Finally, and I will be the first to admit that this is knit-picky, the narrator kept slipping in extra "r"s, e.g. Drawing => Drawring. For me, this kept interrupting what little willing suspension of disbelief I was able to muster. I kept finding myself wondering why someone from Seattle would speak like someone from the northeast.
All that whining aside, you'll probably enjoy it if you like paranormal fantasy stuff.

Shades of Jane Yellowrock

I listened to the meeting of Joanne and Jane before this and have totally enjoyed this, the first of The Walker Papers. I'm looking forward to Book 2.

Just ok

Good character and storyline development. Decent plot. Story is definitely a character builder along the way, which causes the story to move along slower than anticipated.

Fun and exciting

This is well worth listening to. The heroine is half American Indian/half Irish. For years she has pretended to be plain old 'Joann Walker,' but now her true heritage & name catch up with her and turn her life (and the Seattle police) upside down. Very entertaining. Now I want to get the second book in the series to find out what happens next!

good

I love this series and was happy to see it available in audio. I liked the narration except for Morrison's voice.
