About this listen

When a simple kiss is turned to scandal by a conniving mother, can a forced marriage transform two regretful hearts?

Tall, dark, and brooding, the Viscount of Barnet stole Jane Milton's heart the day she saw him astride his black horse in the woods. When she learns of his upcoming trip to Brighton, she grasps at an opportunity to be a companion to an elderly woman there, in order to follow - er - accompany Lord Barnet to the seaside town.

Mr. Philip Honeyfield has suffered the dreaded misfortune of inheriting a title. Ungainly and shy, how can he perform well in the eye of society? To navigate his new role, Philip seeks advice from an unlikely source. When he is smitten by his grandmother's new companion, Miss Jane Milton, his advisor offers one final piece of counsel: he must kiss her at the upcoming ball.

But a moonlit kiss can be catastrophic when witnessed by a cunning mother, a marriage can be inconvenient when forced, and a woman's heart can be difficult to win when it belongs to another. Can an unexpected love conquer Jane's resentment and Philip's regret? Or will that simple kiss turn out to be his greatest misfortune of all?

I enjoyed the clean yet swoony storyline. It was interesting to see how self perception changes when one is loved.

Great book

I can't wait to reread this over and over. When they first married and things were tense I wasn't sure if I'd finish. it bugged me that she played him and he loved her so...but then ... did she ... or did she love him too? and that's what kept me listening and ah I loved how it unfolded. beautifully done. bravo❤️

absolutely LOVED

This is the second in the series but I loved both books throughly. This author writes romance in such a tangible way that I could feel every hearts bump, bruise and swell. <sigh> sooooo good. And surprisingly it is very clean. Yet the passion behind the kisses is extraordinary without even one nipple tweet. Imagine! 😆

I accidentally started book 3 first then realized the previous books may hold valuable background. So I set aside book 3 and started over with book1. I am so glad I read them in order as it gave the overall viewpoint of Lord Ramsey (book3) much more depth of character. I will now move on to the to the final book and learn of Lord Ramsey's fate. Which I am now extremely invested in, and feel it would be best for me to start the book from the beginning and not where I left off around ch 10. Why because I want to drain every drop of romance from this lovely series!

Wonderful!

She created characters that carried the show. The secondary characters we're sufficiently composed so as to play their roles effectively. This is particular true in the case of her parents. They were clearly defined.
I enjoyed hating them at different points in the book. I shared her hurt from the injury of the words

Clean and Compelling

This was a good story. I would recommend it to others. A good ending to what happens to this last guy who didn’t find a lady.

Very cute

It would have been much better if Jane wasn’t so spoiled and unlikable, Phillip is much too good for her. This narrator is good for medieval and fantasy like stories, but to me her sing song mysterious voice isn’t right for regency. The writing is good though, I will look into the author’s other books.

Main character not likable

Miss Newbold provided question In a boy meets girl story. She paints the picture to make one believe the story would continue along with a typical narrative. Then, not only does the story leave you questioning which way it would go, but it also allowed you to see what happens after the tail unfolds. Good job!!! and thank you!!!

Absolute favorite!!!
